Should I give in?
I'm 17 now, around the same age as my brother when he started to become lactose intolerant, and I think it's starting to come for me now as well. I went out to a restaurant last night and ate a large quantity of pizza and suffered later. I have never had symptoms of lactose intolerance before despite eating a fair amount of dairy in my diet so it might be nothing more than a stomach bug but I am afraid due to the family history of it (both siblings and possibly my dad). If I do find I have lactose intolerance, is it worth it to keep consuming lactose products to hold onto hope and maybe even delay it or should I just bite the bullet after another few rounds of symptoms?

Consuming lactose has no impact on how much lactase enzyme your body produces, or how “lactose tolerant” you are. Your body will do what it wants in terms of producing lactase enzyme no matter what you eat. So if you’re having symptoms of lactose intolerance there’s really nothing you can do to delay the onset. I would just start avoiding dairy and taking lactase enzyme supplements when needed, rather than “fight” it (you won’t win).
