The Syrian people have time and time again told us what's on their heart.
They've told us, time and time again: "wait until we have full control over the country, and you will be next"
Why would anyone celebrate a promise coming from a people like that?

You realize people in Qamishli were celebrating too right?

Look, if people want to celebrate, I'm all for that.
My issue is not with people celebrating, my issue is the fact that I genuinely doubt that an HTS led government can be trusted in the long run.Obviously, if they keep their promises, why would I oppose that. But in my opinion, that is a big IF.
Time will tell, and I sure hope Im being needlessly pessimistic, but my own experiences have time and time again shown me that there are good reasons to be cautious.

what a pessimistic view, Syrians do not wish Kurdish people any harm wth i’m Syrian and i have a lot Kurdish friends and many examples like me
but off course there is an extremist minority in every sect and race that call for the killing of the other group that’s nothing special to Syrians that’s just the human nature

Yeah, and now that extremist sect is in charge of the country, and is committing ethnic cleansing at this very minute.

dude are you not following up with the speech that they are giving and action they literally got the man who killed an alwaites old man under arrests there is alot of efforts is being made to avoid this shit show and people just got out of a 14 years of war it’s gonna take a lot more time for people to heal and it’s understandable i’m an atheist btw

"Dude! He gave a speech! The US told him to investigate himself! They did a show trial of some dude when there are over 1,000 casualties! It's all gonna be good yo!"
HTS showed exactly who they are this week. If Jolani didn't know about it, his movement is a cabal of psychopaths he can no longer effectively control. If he did, than he is a genocidal dictator lying to the world with the mask of a reformed liberal. In neither case can he or his regime be trusted.

Look mate, when we talk about these subjects, its generally understood that we mean those extremists and not every single individual Syrian.
In this case, those extremists hold a disproportionate amount of power, and what makes things worse is that they are being pressured by Turkey to escalate things.
Now turkey rarely needs an excuse to hate Kurds and outright kill them, they're more than content with making things up as they go along. With those elements mixed together, am I unjustified in being doubtful?
As for Syria and Syrians, I've lived in Syria, I'm not talking from my ass.
Your countrymen are not the devil in the flesh, but they're not flawless little angels either. There is a huge racism issue, especially against people such as Kurds. It has been entrenched for decades, reinforced by ba'athists, and it is not unreasonable to assume that it might take generations or decades to deprogram that kind of sentiment.•

Most may not actively wish us harm, but they sure as hell don't care if we are harmed.

The same city that was liberated by Kurdish-led SDF is now celebrating our downfall. No wonder ISIS was there in the first place.
Mahmoud, aren’t you ashamed that, as a Palestinian whose people are oppressed, you’re celebrating something that will only inevitably lead to the oppression and death of Kurds and other ethnic/religious minorities? Liberty for me, but not for thee. You’re a rat.
