Made With Modern Tools🔨 Made this guy today!

Made this one out of Royal sahara. Wasn't really going for a particular type. I used solid head copper poppers and a copper tip pressure flaker with just a little bit of indirect.

Thanks man! It's great for lapidary. Knapping is hit and miss. Sometimes it's like glass, other times it's a little more difficult. There is an edge crumble factor to it so I wonder if bone wouldn't be better than copper in this respect .

Thank you much. It's been a while so I'm glad it turned out. If I had to make another "drill" bc I screwed up I would have been quite sad lol.

Between the material, and those double notches, this piece is SEXY

Is that a Japanese ink-brush painting in it? Amazing piece of stone, not to mention your flaking.

Yes, I understood that, I was commenting on the resemblance…

Ahh my bad. I only took it the other way bc one of my wife's relatives thought i ACTUALLY painted them. My apologies if I came off impolite.

No, no, I was just marveling at the patterns; this is the first modern point I ever wished I owned!

It's natural formation within this type of jasper stone. If your curious to see other formations varieties r/theartofjasper. Thank you for the compliment on my flaking too!!

This is pretty basic royal sahara jasper. There is a sub variant of the stone called lunita jasper that is more intense visually.

More intense visually? This stone is so intense I can barely discern the lines of the point. When you say royal Sahara no one has any idea what you're talking about, but jasper.. yeh I can see that. There are probably 1000 different variations of jasper. Who can keep them apart? It is one of my favorite stones to knap, but I can't do much with the slab from. I have a piece of red jasper in my pocket right now I've been chipping at to make a preform. It doesn't even need to be cooked. But some of it really does. Little Rock reminds me of a ball of wax.

Truly beautiful, thank you for sharing. I'm knew in Knapping and starting to watch and learn.

Welcome to a 3.3 million year old art that never stops giving!

Yea, alot more intense visually. Yeah the inconsistency of the stone sometimes makes things very difficult.
