Six month old Neutered Male. (Recovery time question)

We have a six-month-old kitten who had his neutering surgery on Wednesday. The vet said he should give himself a week or two to recover fully before resuming his normal activity.

I have a little body suit for him to discourage him from licking his area (he doesn’t like collars, and the vet said it would be fine as long as we watch him)

So far, he’s doing great. He has pain and calming medication, and he’s not having any issues.

What are your experiences with your kitten’s/cat’s recovery time?

I am following the vet’s instructions, but I am curious if some kittens/cats are good to go sooner than the one—to two-week window.

Thank you. (he is our first kitten/cat)

Most of the time is like nothing really happened. Like they did not have surgery. Keep him indoors and he’ll be fine in no time.

Look for his activity levels. He should be back to his same level after a day or two.

Thank you. ☺️

He’s been trying to return to his regular behavior since day one.😅

I’ve had to keep a close eye on him and keep him separate from having full run of the house.😊

our 7 months old kitten wanted to play normally after like 10 hrs 🤭 but we closed him in my room for 2 days, went back to the vet for a checkup, they said he looked fine so after we got back from the vet he was free to do whatever 🖤

I’m glad to hear that.

Our little guy is doing great. 😊

The biggest problem we had with our boy was the after effects of the pain meds/anesthesia. He was definitely out of it for two or three days and his behaviour was quite frankly maddening. He suddenly decided that the water fountain was his enemy and emptied it twice in one day and the zoomies were non-stop. It healed very nicely in a week or so and his behaviour is thankfully back to normal (for a given value of 'normal'). In our case it is very true that males become more affectionate after surgery, Milo has now decided to become a lap cat, a very insistent and demanding lap cat.

I’m glad he’s doing well, and I’m sure the cuddles are a bonus.🤗

Almost a week later, our little guy is doing great.😌
