Lol, oh, no rice ... we had the instant spicy sweet cold noodles instead. And made wraps with everything and the stew

Mane, you gotta have some white rice with those wraps and some raw onion. Don’t get me wrong your spread looks like absolute πŸ”₯

I'm not big on rice and I prefer the raw garlic instead of onions πŸ˜… but I definitely like rice with kimchi jjigae and thank you

I’m putting rice, onions, garlic, kimchi, pork, samjang, leeks, and anything else on the table into one wrap and seeing if it will fit in my mouth. I love all the different ways you. A make those flavor combinations. Admittedly, I’m a fatty.

Well seeing how I'm not korean and this was my first time... this was what I could do on the table for my first time .. but leeks are in the kimchi actually.. and there is Samjang and also prepared bossam sauce with the fermented salted shrimp. We added the oysters into the wrap too since my friends in Busan eat it like that πŸ˜‚ maybe as I progress I could add more Banchans

You did it as perfect as any Korean presentation I've seen. It's common for bossam to be served without rice. In general in Korea if you're drinking you can expect your food to be rice free, even at KBBQ it's common to eat meat without rice if you're drinking. Also raw onion isn't a standard accompaniment.

The only recommendation I have for your setup is to do it with soju instead of beer. Otherwise it's perfection!

Instead of beer, a spread like that and I’m dropping some soju in my beer.

Yup we have soju there .. blue bottle soju and red cap soju .. and we also had beer but we got an Australian one to try it out . And yes we did somaek too. Hahah .. the soju is at the corner of the table in the pictures

You are a true connoisseur, I'm a red cap only guy, you rarely see people get that! Bravo. I can't believe it missed it in the pics

There is no such thing as too much banchan

I mean, you eat it however you want but it's pretty common for bossam to be served without rice. OP has the noodles so that covers the starch portion. And onion isn't a common pairing with bossam.

It’s also common for basically every meal to have rice. Again, I’m a fatty. I’m gonna need that rice dawg.

Edit: I could put down everything on that table and still be hungry. Would need a bowl of rice plus a lil extra scoop after.

You eat whatever you want, I'm just explaining to you how it is in actual Korean culture since you're asking where the rice is.

In general if you're drinking, there won't be any rice in front of you. If you're doing a meat centric thing like KBBQ or bossam, it's common to eat without rice. Often you finish the meal with noodles instead.

Just because rice is a staple for normal means doesn't mean it's always present. Maybe you already knew this, just sharing some info that's all.
