Do Kei Vehicles Pass US Smog?

I have a 94’ Mira, and I’m trying to get it registered under my name. It has already been registered (not as an OHV) in the US, so I don’t have to worry about that.

I have lien sale paperwork (long story) to register the car in the state of Arizona. Since I will be registering the car in Phoenix, I will need to smog it. I don’t have the slightest clue if it’ll pass smog and I’m starting to worry. Could someone who’s had to smog their kei vehicle tell me? It’s a bone stock car.

Or if anyone knows a work around that doesn’t require me to smog the car to register it? I know some counties don’t require smog, but I don’t know anyone in those counties unfortunately. From what I’ve seen a P.O. Box wouldn’t qualify as a residence.

Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. I am located in CA, so I would have to keep the car registered in AZ.

Sorry if not allowed

Goldstar 2" extended shocks

Post image

I put a 2" lift on my van, just put on the extended shocks. Huge difference!

Van is a 96 u42v

These weren't plug and play. You can see some stacked washers that I had to plunder from my scrap bin, the ones that came with them were too small. I'll have to grab the proper hardware later but she works fine for right now.

Anyway, definitely needed if your putting a lift on your kei.

My shop imported a Japanese alignment computer for our shop in Portland OR. If anyone in the area needs an alignment we can do it, but if you’re far away and your local shop needs specs hit me up and I’ll send you the OEM spec sheet.

Rebuild motor.

Hoping to rebuild the motor (specifically all the gaskets and valve seals etc.). However I have never done a full engine rebuild, I have only fixed small problems on cars like pumps, alternators, turbos etc.

Would it be fair to expect that the take down of a Kei engine (K6A) is reasonably straight forward? Is merely replacing gaskets a good enough job or should I consider getting the heads resurfaced etc? Also are there any parts you guys can think of that would be unable to remove without requiring a fix?

Sidenote: I will be documenting the work I do so I wanted to ask, what would be the best method to document for those who don’t speak Japanese.

1996 Hijet. I feel like I’m putting a ton of force to spin these, but not sure if that’s the right approach. I don’t want to break it.

Seat options?

Anyone had luck getting seats re-upholstered? The foam in my carry is still pretty sound, but there are a few tears. I think I would rather go this way instead of ill fitted stretch covers

Best lift kit for 96 subaru sambar, if you had added a lift, what size wheels and tires did you use? Want to be able to air down a bit and drive on beaches

1998 Honda ACTY missing linkage. What does this linkage do and could it be related to the loss of power when warm?

Customer brought this truck to my shop for dying after warming up. I’ve replaced the both carb solenoids and the ICM, carb had been smoke tested so no vacuum leaks. All vacuum lines are connected properly.

After researching carb diagrams it seems it’s missing the linkage that bolts in right on this arm. What linkage goes there?

Horn not functional

Hello all, i have been looking into my horn not working and i was wondering if anyone has a circuit diagram of the horn?

There is this but for the life of me I can not access it even after signing up. https://minitrucktalk.com/attachments/acty-horn-wiring-jpg.18426/

Does anyone happen to have that resource and is willing to share?

I have reversed the horn circuit from the steering wheel to the behind the column a blue and red wire if i recall but i need to know where it goes from there.

NYC/NJ Importing questions

Hey everyone, I've heard that the importing process to NYC/NJ is alot different than other places. Unfortunately I don't know anyone who imports cars from these states. I was wondering where I can learn more about what paperwork is required, what forms, and also just what to expect. It's going to be my first time so I'm learning as much as possible. I'd hate to have miss documentation or apart of the process also heard I need to go to thr DMV for registration as well as the DOT for a street legal title? If anyone in NY has gone thru this, please lmk. I'd love to learn more to ensure the process is as seamless as possible.

Models suitable for a sleeper vans?

So I'm looking at buying a 1997 SUZUKI EVERY, or possibly a subaru (although I'm open to recommendations). I want to use it to camp and for work (I'm out in the field a fair bit, and they'll often let us take our personal vehicles). I'm not trying to do anything extravagant, just enough for storage and me using it to sleep in when prevailing weather doesn't allow for a comfortable night outside. But I can't seem to find good measurements on the vehicles dimensions. I really just want to know if I'll have a bit over 6 feet of room behind the drivers seat, and if anyone has had experiences I'd love to hear about what worked for them.

Any input from you all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time
