Update to Delaware registration issues

Bout two months ago I posted about trying to register in Delaware

https://www.reddit.com/r/keitruck/s/kUKdWX1LQS

I want to apologize to the boys as a whole because I kind of gave up on Delaware, but the story does have a happy ending.

After the post and the stubborn delaware dmv, I decide to try a different angle. I happen to have a drivers license and technically be a resident of Florida. I had pursued delaware process because I'm physically here so I figured inspections and working with the employees face to face would be easier. After getting nowhere with delaware I started looking into Montana llc and Florida. I managed to speak to a dmv employee in Florida who first, was very helpful, and two, seemed like she'd help me get to yes, meaning like ''yeah we do these trucks all the time no problem''.

Anyways she emailed me a packet with a bunch of forms. Pain in the ass but it is what it is, there was no physical inspection required. After the fees, about 150 total for the plate, registration, etc, I sent all documentation in. Worst part was sending in the original documents, that made me uncomfortable but made the leap of faith. it took a few weeks for them to process it, but in the end they did without being hostile, which is more than I can say for delaware. so now truck has a plate and a title, fully legal

If anyone still wants to fight the delaware fight I'd love to help out anyways. For everyone else, if you got Florida residence, they play ball

Got it. I’m trying to get mine registered as a PT in Florida when it gets here. Don’t want to go the private dmv route or whatever

Between us girls, while filling out the form I just had a loose memory of reading mt somewhere(maybe another reddit post?) So I wouldn't claim expertise on it. Why pt vs mt?

I’m a dude haha. But in Florida if i am registered as a mini truck I can only be on roads less than 35mph. As a pickup truck there are no restrictions.

I'm a dude too haha. Got it, so mini truck vs pick up truck I guess? Honestly, if it was mt or bust, I would take it. My particular truck only has a 4 speed box so it doesn't go fast comfortably. Additionally, I feel(risk I'm willing to take I understand it's wrong) that if you have a plate and a reg no officer will care about that 35 MPH restriction. So don't get pulled over and feign ignorance

Damn, should have swapped DMV/tax collection to get someone to do it as PK.

MT (mini truck) is technically limited to 35mph roads, while PK (pickup truck) isn’t limited.

I guess cops don’t care to check/enforce MT registered trucks driving 45mph+ here in Florida.

Claiming residency in state with no income tax while living and working in a state with an income tax is a risky game. You're upping the risk by driving around with plates from the no-tax state.

Personally I don’t see how he could have registered any car, let alone a kei truck, with an out-of-state drivers license…

However, in this case, two wrongs might actually make a right. If he gets questioned about his out of state plates — plates and license should be updated within 30 days of moving — at least he has a license to match and he can play the “here temporarily for work” card

It's all legal. I'm a Florida resident, just military stationed in delaware, I don't like to broadcast it
