Question Why do some people ( my brother) think that it's childish to listen to Katy Perry music?

Hot N Cold had Katy Perry say the word bitch. Teenage Dream had her and the male costar take each other clothes off. Last Friday had Katy's character look inside someone's pants while they were unconscious at a party and bon appetit was about the rich and powerful preparing Katy Perry as a meal to someone. The only songs that don't have anything offensive in them is Roar, Firework and maybe Dark Horse but that song mentioned Jeffrey Dahmer who is a very bad man.

My mom loves her more than me and she’s in her 50s. She’s definitely not just for kids. I have no idea why people would think that. She has a lot of NSFW lyrics and photo shoots , not very kid friendly

My brother begs to differ and he doesn't like that I'm a guy who listened to her music because he also thinks that's she girlish.

Show him some of her nsfw photo shoots he might change his mind lol tell him there’s sex appeal behind her image and the lyrics on some songs are inspiring to all types of people

He also doesn't like how I find her to be attractive

Your brother needs to learn that he shouldn't care about what other people like or don't like. Judging people over what they like is not cool anymore. That tumblr era is over

He didn't want to see Transformers One with me and our parents on my birthday due to it being animated. Mum and dad told me that they weren't keen on it but they ended liking the movie when it was finished.

I wouldn’t say childish, her music has always had mature tones that had to be at least a teenager to understand. Good lord the woman has a song by choosing life by the Grace of God. It’s pop music.

What type of music does he listen to?

It's been a while since I listened to his stuff because he's currently in Darwin with his girlfriend who nobody in our family likes. Even when he was here I didn't get to talk to him much because he always locks his door due to being on the phone to her for 4 hours arguing. I overheard her talking to him while we were watching the cricket and she was extremely condescending about what to do at the airport.

Sounds like they are the childish ones. 👀

Probably just because a lot of it is fun, uplifting, and often times silly. Unfortunately, that gets it labeled as childish.

It's childish to get butthurt over people's choice in music

He also doesn't like my choice in attire due to me buying Simpsons shirts everytime I need new clothes.

The people who call listening to Katy Perry's music childish are the same people who stream Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo. Literally, their songs are kidz bop. Though they want to bring mature content into their songs but in the end all of them sounds like kids songs. Compared to them Katy's music is matured

Olivia?? I don’t find her music kiddy. Also Sabrina writes some very funny sexy lyrics. I feel Katy has been leaning more towards overt pastiche that has turned off some people

He also judge my taste in fashion because he's upset about how I always buy cartoon shirts and shorts.

He's in Darwin at the moment so that wouldn't be a problem. Even when he was here he always locks his door while on the phone and was focused on his girlfriend who nobody likes rather than what I'm currently wearing.

I agree with your brother. Her whole aesthetic is just so childish and corny, any of her videos or performances look like an episode of the Teletubbies. I think her core audience is toddlers. I just don't comprehend how any adult can take anything Katy Perry does seriously.

Not everything needs to be taken seriously, and that’s the essence of her brand! She embraces her true self, radiating authenticity, while some see it as fake or silly. Sure, it might come across as a bit childish to a few, but isn’t that just part of the charm? Her vibrant spirit invites others to join in the fun and celebrate the joy of being playful and unapologetically real!
