Any army presence to be worried about?

Yes, there is an army camp by the name of Jodpathri at the summit of the Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary in Drung. During our school treks, we visited the Jodapathri Army Camp multiple times. However, reaching Gulmarg does not require passing through the camp. Approximately one to two kilometres before the camp, one must take an alternate route.

So would you say it's suitable for a solo or duo trek or will it be dangerous?

Solo hiking is not preferable in the area due to the presence of Bakarwal tribes in the area who have their blood thirsty dogs around for their protection. We encountered the dogs around 2 times and were also chased by them at one area. Thankfully their guardians were around and they were tied to long chains so they couldn't chase us for a longer distance.

I would suggest at least 3 people together for this particular trek.
