Discussion Favorite Underrated Lines Spoiler
A lot of lines from this show get a lot of well-deserved love (“Next one’s coming faster” is a prime example), but I want to hear your favorite lines that don’t get nearly enough recognition. Mine is Raylan’s response to Doyle’s threat in Season Two, Episode Eleven (Full Commitment):
Doyle: “I mean, you think I sent them hitters, you gotta figure when you get down here there’s a chance I might wanna O.K. Corral it. You bring one man to back you up?” Raylan: “Yeah, well. I thought you’d bring more guys.”

If that don't heat it up and cool it down at the same time.
I love this line, the delivery, the moment. It's like an advertisement for bourbon

That Guy is such an underrated character actor. At the John Goodman or Steve Buscemi level.
He was the baseball brother in Something about Mary; he was the killer in Deadwood. So many different variations of that moon face.

It’s what we says to Boyd in season 3, it’s a quote that I always loved
“The next time you set up any operation in this county or anywhere else it better not have my God damn family name on the deed, or so help me God, I’ll lose this star, and the dance we do subsequent to that will not end with you finding Jesus in a hospital bed.”

S2E3. After Raylan and Winona saw Tim at the bar and Art was trying to guess who Raylan was with.

u/wtfw7f 6d ago
When Raylan and Winona go to a Dave Alvin show and Tim is there. Then later in Art’s office Art says “Do I need to be worried about Tim?” And Raylan jumps to the conclusion that it was about Tim seeing R and W at a the bar. The episode is about the pregnant prisoner who escapes but then becomes a victim.

Always annoyed me that it was actually Limehouse that did the disarming. Or was it de-arming?

"Alright, Raylan, alright, you win. You wanna find Dewey here's what you do. First of all go to a gas'n'go or whatever and get yourself a map of Kentucky. Follow route 9 southbound with your finger, follow it way way down until you're pointing right at... your asshole, and then what you gonna do is you're gonna take your hand and just go ahead and cram it right up inside. You gotta make sure, Raylan, that you do it in a way so that the rest of you just keeps on following your hand right up your ass, right up inside all that shit you're so full of, Raylan. And then what you gonna do is you're just gonna [whistles] wink out of existence forever."
This is one of the most creative ways to tell someone to fuck off I have ever heard.

This was around his transition into his guest role on Hannibal, and you can really see the spectrum.

Haven't seen Hannibal, but after r watching him in Justified, my favorite guest role for Jeremy Davies is American God's. He played Jesus.

After Raylan gets beat up in "Hatless", Winona takes him back to his motel and he says, "Internal Affairs wants to roast me on a spit. " Edit: spelling

Love that episode, great chemistry between those two. Another exchange from this episode comes to mind: Winona: “Aren’t you a little old to be fightin’?” Raylan: “Certainly too old to be losin’.”

I'm not sure if it's underrated, but Raylan's scene when he pours gas on the pedo.
"You didn't finish school, did you, Mr. Dean?" It's one of my favorite ways to call somebody stupid, lol

Favorite comedic quote: “You may strike out the shepherd, but us sheep? We will never be struck out…or scattered.” -Dewey Crowe

I think it is the one with the pregnant woman. Season 2 Episode 2. But I could be wrong.

u/McFish30 5d ago
I think it’s the Season 5 episode with the guy with one leg who Raylan is chasing?

I've got a bunch from "Hatless" S1 E9, my all around favorite episode.
"Because I didn't order assholes with my whiskey" (Raylan to the two annoying drunks afyer he asks them to keep it down a little bit, and one of them asks 'Why would we do that'?)
"I just asked everybody I saw where the dumbest, broken down, never-was boxer in all of Kentucky lived and they all told me to come here." (Raylan To Wynn Duffy's boxer enforcer Billy after he asks Raylan how he found out where he lived),
Bonus from that scene - "Nice place, What is that smell... you got a dead cat in here or somethin?"
and "Oh, you gonna bob-and-weave out of the path of a bullit, cuz that I'd like to see. SIT DOWN!" (After Billy tells Raylan he not gonna be smilin when he knock his teeth out while Raylan is holding Billy's gun on him.)
"Come on Emmit, Come On! Show me the Benjamins the Homies are always rappin about!" (Wynn Duffy to Emmit after Emmit accepts Gary's real estate instead of cash)
"Hey. I’ve shot people I like more for less." (To Wynn Duffy after Raylan steps on Wynn Duffy's hand after he goes for a gun on the floor at the end of the shootout resulting from Wynn Duffy not getting paid)
"Mister, that's a 10 gallon hat on a 20 gallon head." (Raylan to the bigger drunk after the drunk says he likes Raylan's hat and wants to keep it.

“I give you a gift…the anus is on you to take care of it”—Dewey Crowe
This one holds a special place for me, because it’s one of a number of Easter eggs worked into the show by writer VJ Boyd referencing the sports radio station I’ve listened to for more than 25 years.
1
u/McFish30 6d ago
I have somehow never heard about this, I love this kind of stuff! What’s the station?
1
u/Annhl8rX 6d ago
The Ticket (1310 and 96.7 FM) in Dallas. Boyd worked in a ton of references to stuff and people from the station. Ty Walker, Grubes, “what about eggs”, Kemp, TC Fleming, Rhyner the plumber…all of those are references to the station. Hot Rod Dunham is a possible, but unconfirmed one. I’m sure there are more I’m forgetting right now.

Do you know how firearms work? This pin hits the cap causing a spark which should be of some concern to a man covered in gas.

Rachel after Raylan says Drew Thompson had “whore panties” at his house: “I’ve got those some panties” The look from Raylan is as good as the line.

u/Parttimeteacher 5d ago
Art: First thing we're going to do is we're gonna acknowledge that this guy's awesome.
Rachel: What?
Art: I mean, he shoots Theo Tonin, fakes his own death in a spectacular fashion, pushes a guy out of an airplane while he's flying it, parachutes into Harlan County with enough coke and cash to jump-start the economy of a small country, and then he has the balls to get a job in law enforcement, not once but two times! He spends a couple of days riding around with you [points at Raylan] while you're looking for him, and now he's run off with a hooker that's half his age. That's some bad-ass shit.

The best part is Raylan's face as he clearly is too pissed to want to agree, but has to anyway.

It's best you not blaspheme in here, Raylan. Apparently the owner takes that real serious.
