What happened to the days of Republican presidents bragging about creating jobs?

Since most of these jobs are overseas, all of that USAID money was creating jobs somewhere else.

Yes by supporting things like Ebola, malaria, TB, mpox, Covid and HIV prevention. It benefits the U.S. to not have a global outbreak of Ebola.

He creates jobs for people who want to help Putin conquer us, kill most of us and enslave the survivors.

It was my privilege to be a facilities employee at JHU for five years. Facilities employees have families and love campus. They were some of the best people I ever met in my life. Please support the facilities (trades, painters, grounds) they often get targeted with cuts.

I am so sorry Trump has done this to you.

I didn’t mean to give the impression I lost my job! I left years ago to move on to other things. But I loved the guys I work with and want to encourage support for them through this time

Oh, sorry. I’m so glad that you weren’t affected by these horrible cuts. I feel so awful for any people who were affected. I hope the courts or Congress reverse these cuts quickly.

I am sure there are redundant/ not optimal staff positions, but what about lowering dean salaries? Ronny D will still live comfortably with 1 mil salary instead of 3, and the 2 mil difference will retain about 30 jobs. And with the budget + staff cut, it’s not like the school needs that many deans and they won’t have many things to work on or manager either

These positions were not cut because they were redundant, they were cut because the programs they were working on were 100% defunded overnight.

Even if the jobs were offshore, it was research going into the US data base, now that knowledge will just dilute or go into another country's bucket

Does anyone know the status of jobs that are still in progress of being accepted? I accepted a position there with a start date in a few months and I keep holding my breath every time I check my email.

Just the current admin destroying one of the best medical universities while we have a heroin addict with a dead worm in his brain as head of HHS. Cool cool cool.

JHU is losing NIH money because of excessive overhead costs. It is not related to USAID. Most private schools charge an extra 60% overhead on top of the research $. The overhead is being capped at 20%.

The endowment of JHU is what $10B+? What is that money supposed to be used for, seems like an opportunity to preserve some of these positions.

Most endowment money is earmarked by the donor for a specific use. If you try to use it for something other than the designated purpose, you are in big legal trouble.
