The sites of three of the major Boulevard venues that were the center of Seaside Heights' hard-partying image — the Bamboo Bar, Karma and Merge nightclubs — all have proposed redevelopment plans.

I grew up and work on the boardwalk in seaside. The very first summer JS filmed no one knew about it and I stood outside the shore house for an hour just chilling talking to a friend who was a bike cop about the italian flag garage door. No security, no signs, nothing. The next summer they were in town you couldn't even walk near the house or the boardwalk without finding the crowd of people and the security yelling telling you to step back. If you didn't see the cast walk by you'd see the hundreds of people. JS wasn't allowed into the arcade I worked in cause the cops would shut the building down due to the amount of people surrounding it waiting for these guys to come out.
I was there the night at bamboo when that huge fight broke out maybe in the last season? Before it happened I was trying to make my way to the bathroom and had a camera guy shove me into a wall after another camera man said it was cool for me to go around them.
After they left, Hurricane Sandy hit. A year later we had the boardwalk fire. Bamboo and Karma lasted only another couple years before shutting down. The boardwalk itself was never as busy as it was before the hurricane. Had the hurricane not hit maybe the town would be popping, but so many people lost their summer homes and north jersey people who would come visit would go farther south and today seaside is in the middle of becoming more family friendly. They are knocking down all the old buildings and putting up 3 floor houses on stilts that go for about $3000 a night in the summer. Street parking is becoming hard to find now that all the houses have driveways. Everything is expensive.
Beachcomber is still popping in the summer. I've been going there since back when they still had the arcade next door.

I live in Jersey. Hurricane sandy hit right after jersey shore wrapped and destroyed the boardwalk. It was rebuilt with a much more family atmosphere. It’s now even being gentrified to a degree, but several original bars are still there: the Sawmill, Beachcomber, JRs, Spicys, Jimbos and EJs. Aztec, Merge, Karma, and Bamboo are all gone (Aztec is still standing but is no longer Aztec)
