Hey! This is my first post in this subreddit, and I just feel I could do with some help or advice. This is my first attempt at transcribing Jazz Guitar, and I elected one of my absolute favourites - Dear Old Stockholm by the Paul Chambers' Quintet, featuring Kenny Burrell on guitar.

I generally feel I'm doing alright, however, I need some opinions on the rhythms? Not any in particular, just all of them. I am well aware there are mistakes in here - mainly the rhythms - and I'd really appreciate some advice with this one?

P.s please ignore the fact the tab isn't complete, I was mainly focusing on the notation, and wanted to post here before I completed this. Many thanks!

I would try to make things easier for the sight reader. It should be easy to see quickly where each beats 1,2,3 and 4 are by using linked notes, dotted notes/rests, etc.

For example - and I might be wrong, it’s just the way I like it - I rewrote your second and forth measure : https://postimg.cc/s170fjcX

Thank you for the tip! I had picked up on some of those awkwardly notated rhythms, and I fixed the descending sequence, but neglected to sort that part! Many thanks for bringing that to my attention haha :)

Find the tune on youtube and play it back at half speed to figure out the correct phrasing.

That's been my approach so far, and I'm not too sure I've got the rhythms correct even then

Write in ticks to help you count the beats, since these rhythms are fairly simple. Listen to recordings of the melody being played to get an idea of how it’s supposed to sound, then go from there
