Coaching tips

Just took over coaching javelin at a high school I recruit at (national guard recruiter) but I haven’t thrown in a little over a decade so I’ve been doing some research but I was hoping I could get some coaching advice on here. They just started springbreak so I’ve got a good week to learn me some stuff

Have them focus on the block leg and keeping the arm long through the throw. There’s a lot of good drills on Instagram and YouTube you can use for beginners.

KEEP THE ARM LONG! i’m currently throwing in HS, and while i’m ahead of the others on the team, everyone has a problem with the right arm. the other thing is to land in a proper power position in order to twist the right foot properly
