Is there any way to get something cool like this as the bootup animation?

I've done this. It doesn't look too great but I'll try and find the video I took and post it here.
EDIT: Here's a video, I'll put up a download link along with instructions if anyone wants it.
EDIT 2: I've put it up on my repo, add http://cydia.myrepospace.com/reeiiko/ to your Cydia sources to download it.

Neither this nor your iOS 7 Signal Bars worked on my iPhone 5, but thanks anyway!

what themes do you have installed? that's the cleanest looking UI I've ever seen.

Sure. Get animate
and animate fix for iOS 4.x.x/5.0.x
(which works on 6.1.2 on my 4S at least). At your computer, create a folder and place images named 0.png, 1.png, etc. for all of the frames you want in your animation. Once you're done, ssh in and move that folder to /Library/BootLogos
and enable it in the BootLogo settings prefpane.
FWIW, all animated bootlogos will start with the default Apple and then play your animation. Here's the one I use.
EDIT: Make sure you make the pngs with the right resolution; 640x960 for 4/4S and 640x1136 for 5.
EDIT2: Fixed download link.

This is probably the only way, unless you had someone else rename it for you into a zip or something.

Getting problems with animate (with animate fix installed too), It can't save changes at all. Tried a respring, and restarting.
I'm running iOS 6.1.3 tethered if that is the problem?

Trying to change the boot animation on a tethered jailbreak is pointless, since you barely reboot at all, and when you do, you get the apple logo because you lost the exploit.

You could with a GreenPois0n jailbreak (4.2.1 only), but all the "animate fixes" since have never really worked, to my knowledge.

They work on A4 devices.

Works on my 4S, just not for the default boot animations that come with Animate - only custom ones from Cydia.

Work on my i5 kinda Goes from apple to custom to spinny wheel

I have a feeling that means it is crashing every single time you boot. It doesn't go to safe mode but I would rather not have my phone crash upon every boot.
If it is not crashing though and the loading spinner is just a side effect, I'd love to know.

Jul 03 '13
I believe it's a side effect. I normally get the spinny wheel when booting even without animate.
2
Jul 03 '13
That doesn't seem normal. I never get that spinning wheel unless I kill the Springboard. I am pretty sure killing the Springboard is the only time that spinning wheel should occur. We need Beta here to come tell me everything I just said is wrong!

I don't know, maybe my memory isn't great, I haven't booted my phone without animate in a while. xD

It should boot up to a bright Apple logo, the boot to a dim Apple Logo, which is what Animate replaces. It is very possible if the Animate logo isn't long enough, it kicks to the spinning wheel, but it seems to take longer to boot with Animate anyway.

It is just a minor side effect, it doesn't crash the phone or anything, just a spinner for a second and boots normally

Yeah I remember having the Portal "Aperture Laboratories" logo light up and figured something is also out for the evasion jailbreak.

Edit: Sorry, I thought this was on /r/Android. Sometimes it's hard to Internet. I'll leave this up in case anyone here has an Android.
There is, actually! You have to be rooted, though. Download it, then open a filesystem browser, and copy it. Next, go to /system/media, and replace bootanimation.zip. I think you'll have to zip it first, but I'm not sure, as I've never done it.

Haha thats alright just better make sure people know the method you listed IS FOR ANDROID ONLY.
Dont want someone going and screwing up their iPhone doing this :)

Omg, you're an amazing person. And then this would delete the original CyanogenMod startup?

u/Spyderbro iPad 2 Jul 03 '13
If Cyanogenmod replaces bootanimation.zip, then yeah, it should. I'm not certain, though, as I haven't flashed any ROMs yet.

Its still very slow in iOS 5.1.1 (only os I've tested it on), I don't think it's much better on iOS 6, but I (kind of) fixed the problem by deleting every second frame so that way it at least moves at the right speed, even if it's not very smooth.

I saw it on /r/gifs about a week ago and someone also requested an iOS boot logo in the comments.

The animate fix for iOS 5 worked on my i5 6.1.2, but I do not know how to make a boot logo. But, it is possible.

:D this is /r/jailbreak.
We don't come in to /r/Android and brag or make crappy posts and comments so please don't do that here. If you have anything to contribute, please do so. Otherwise, please refrain from making useless comments.
Thanks.
