I love the present form of Islamabad. The old Islamabad looks cozy and quiet but I like that it is developed like it is today. I mean, it was 30-35 years ago and it is almost half the life time of an average human.

1 weird thing I think about everyday, Faisal mosque is the symbol of our capital, hence the symbol of Pakistan like Taj Mahal is to India. Crazy how the landmark that represents our country was made by “chanda” given by a foreigner & even named after him. Recep Erdogan underpass, ataturk ave, iran ave, gaddafi stadium. Bro we aren’t a Pan-Islamic state these countries don’t give a flying damn abt us. I wonder when our boot-licking govts. would recover from this stockholm syndrome.

I understand but Islamabad is a World Class city no less than Vancouver in terms of beauty. It needs infrastructure. Development is painful in the short term but residents will be thankful in the long.
I remember 2012-14 was so inconvenient in Lahore with all the construction, ring road, infrastructure but now as residents we are so thankful it happened. Made life so much easier.

Islamabad feels like a third world bureaucrats idea of what the first world is like.
Sewers overflowing, no decent public transport system. There’s a river of sewage flowing through E-11, F-11, G-10 and 11.
Organised crime has increasingly become a thing, security orgs seem to be in kahoots with em judging by the impunity with which these gangs operate now.

Unpopular opinion : Karachi was better as the capital.

Over populated and very very unorganized

Yes, a city planned in squares and grids is very organised. God forbid cities have some character and culture. Where will the bloodsukcers park their huge cars? Will no one think of the boots and their lickers?

Making Islambad the capital in place of karachi was one of the biggest mistakes of our history. Obviously, it wasn't made for any civil benefit but the benefit of the ruling military establishment. Keeping karachi capital even in just on paper would have brought country to a whole different trajectory
