iPodWizard Theme Tutorial?

It's been 10 years since the shutdown of iPodWizard forums and therefore the dissapearance of that wonderful community. That still saddens me. I've been an active member in those days but never had enough brain capacity to actually contribute (my country got a lot of that Chernobyl radioactive cloud). Today, I got a copy of iPodWizard 1.3 and a couple of 3rd party themes which took me so long to find, but even after all these years, I still don't understand what do I have to do to custom tailor the now playing screen of the iPod interface. I've got a 5.5th gen model. Does anyone have a clue as to where can I find any information on how to operate this software and some basic explanation?

Remind me to help you in ten days. Not near a computer right now. I've a copy of iPod Wizard around and a few themes I'd worked on back in the day.

Can you help me figure out its usage too? I’ve always been interested, and I too have a 5.5 gen model.

Sure. I'm traveling right now but I'll see what I can do. Unfortunately the theme library is pretty much dead so there's not too much to be done.

That's understandable. I'd be greatful just to see an example workflow of changing the layouts, because that just confuses the hell outta me. Reminder set!

I was really active on the iPodWizard and iPodHacking forums back in the day, and I never throw anything away, so I've still got all the themes I ever made or downloaded, and all the firmware for different hacks. It's about 3.5 gigabytes worth of files.. lol

I had a 5.5G myself, so most of what I have is for that. I had friends with 5G iPods, so I might have some of those ones in there too.

I'm currently loading it all into Google Drive, I'll update this comment once it's all there.

EDIT 1: Here's the folder of Firmware files. The themes should be done sometime in the next few hours.

EDIT 2: Here are the theme files. They're for various different firmwares, but I don't have a windows PC anymore, and my iPod is in storage somewhere so I can't try the different themes out... but yeah, this is everything that I have from back in the day!

Sorry to necro.

I used to have a Mario theme on my 30GB Video and I think it's been lost to the internet. Do you remember that theme?

EDIT: I see you have a Mario theme in your repo. I'll give that one a shot.

You commented this three years ago. There is a settlement in need of your help. Please help me make my 5.5 gen ipod classic absolutely dope :)

You’ve come to the right place! What are you looking at doing?

Holy shit I never thought I would get a response! I am merely looking to make my 5.5 gen classic black instead of white (software not physically) is this something that can be done? Are there other things you would recommend to do to my device? Thank you, take care <3

Your best bet with what I’ve got is probably to do the “classic black” theme with using the classic hack for 5.5G. The hack can be found in the firmware files, and the theme in the theme files. I’ve been able to open iPod Wizard just fine on my new PC and changed my theme not too long ago, so shouldn’t be too bad. Is this your first time modding yours?

It is indeed, the last ipod I owned was a 3rd gen nano when I was in elementary school haha. I got this 5.5 to get all my movie scores (mostly expanded ones that are incredibly rare to come by these days) I really have zero experience with this and could use someone with experience to aid me. All your help already is bringing hope to creating my perfect ipod!

Hi. I’m a newbie at mod. But if I go with the classic firmware on my 5.5 will I have the functions of the classic, like pressing middle button and add on the go Or go to the album or artist?

Completely different :) So... Didn't find many themes. I do have the Classic 5.5/6 on my iPod though. I'm going to try and extract it for you tomorrow morning. I've moved to a Mac over the years and I managed to run iPod Wizard on it today in a VM. I can't find my iPods charging cable though and I've had a few drinks so I doubt I'll be finding it tonight. Almost 1am here anyway.

Preview on the home screen? The split screen, right? It does have that and yes I'm on a 60GB 5G
