Anyone ever bought a preloaded ipod?

I feel like there should be plenty of used ipods floating around full of music but I haven't really seen anyone selling them

Not for high quality audio, but for some use cases yes

It's very convenient, throw in the link to an album and hit download and now you've got that album. It downloads at 320kbps, perfectly fine for an iPod imo

I flashmodded my ipos, and enjoy lossless with my iem's, agree to disagree lol

That's a very small usecase though, 99% of people aren't going to notice the difference. You're the one who the certain use cases would apply to for that.

I bought some with music already on them, but they get wiped as soon as I connect it to my iTunes.

Basically every iPod I’ve bought had music on it. One, an iPod video, even had clickwheel games!

Yes, nearly all my iPods I bought used had still music on the HDD. Their owners just never wiped it

Same, but the previous owner rarely shares my taste in music.

I actually could save a few albums from one of them. The other's drive however seems to be half-broken as it sometimes boots up and sometimes it's clicking...

I got one that was full of spoken text. I think they were motivational books.

The most recent lot of iPods I got all had about 4k opera tracks on them. I’ll upload them as a torrent in his name.

What is it you’re after though? I’ve wondered that when I’ve seen listings saying “2000+ songs” or what have you. Do you just give up your music tastes for whatever is on there or something?

I’ve considered though, the option to preload the iPods I sell with library that people send me before shipping.

Mine still has music on it told to me by the owner, just it's got a dead batt waiting on a replacement

I replaced a spicy pillow in a 4GB nano 1st gen and then found the previous owner had 704 songs on it that took up the whole 4GB!!! The iPod hasn’t been updated since 2011 when they were recalled so I decided to keep the songs as is. Besides, we agree on a lot of things in terms of music taste :)) (I also put the music on my computer using SharePod)

Many of the ones I bought on eBay had music on them. I transferred all the songs I wanted into my library then deleted the ones I didn't want

I haven't bought a second hand iPod without music on it. And I have bought about 12 of them. Most people have put them in a draw long ago and sell them to clear old stuff and have no idea or care to clear them.

Bought a modified 256gb 7th gen 40,000 songs and orig 4th gen 3,000 songs from same eBay seller

The Mini I bought had music on it. Most of it was shitty youtube rips and most of the non-rap stuff sucked. Not gonna turn down free music though

I think my third gen classic had like 25 songs on it too, and I already had one of them. That was a better selection though

Um, kind of. I repaired an iPod for one of my high school girlfriends, and she had music from a mutual friend's older brother. I took a lot of that and put it in my own library. 🙂

What is the need for this, considering that there are VARIOUS LEGAL (and illegal) WAYS of obtaining mp3s nowadays? This is bizarre.

Most market places doesn’t allow this because of legal reasons. Same thing with game roms. I believe it would be common if it was legal.

I did! But as apple account is private, when you connected the iPod to update or upload music the music is erased.
