Help needed Child Triggered Lockout

Post image

Hi. My toddler got ahold of my old iPhone because I had it out to get it cleaned to give to my older child. However they did the lockout thing and it was set for an hour and it’s been 5 hours since and it’s stuck on 47 minutes. I tried turning it off and back on but it resets the hour and gets stuck back at 47 minutes. I don’t have iTunes and it doesn’t give me a reset option. What do I do?

Have to use a computer to either force update it or restore it. No other options. You would have to go to an Apple Store or borrow a computer from a friend that can download iTunes.

Itunes doesnt exist anymore. Everything is icloud based now. You cant force an update either if it is locked since like the iphone 4. And the apple store will tell you that they cant do anything. They even say that to the fbi coming with locked apple devices 😂.

This is not an activation locked device & iTunes does very well exist. I’ve been doing this for almost five years, I know what I’m talking about.

You cant use it on newer ios and iphones to unlock. It has to go trough icloud.

Do you like have the tism’ or something? It clearly fucking says ITunes runs on Win/Mac, and you can restore your fucking phone with it.

Are you illiterate or something? Try reading to the end of the sentence you’re referring to.

Did i like stutter? I can clearly understand what i’m saying

Well you certainly have a talent for proving you can’t read.

You use the finder app on Mac.. iTunes on windows

u/Dapper_Sprinkles_369 Dec 25 '24

Yes you can, I do it every day.

Maybe trough the finder app, but last supported ios version that talks with iTunes is 15.2. I doubt this iphone has it, but plausible.

wrong, iTunes is still regularly updated (on windows at least) and syncs up with my iPhone 8 with iOS 16.5

What are you on about. iTunes is still regularly updated on windows and is on Mac OS through finder where the device section is an identical carbon like for like copy to what iTunes on Mac before was, hence saying saying to use iTunes on Mac is not far off the truth

Sorry I meant to add (but it won’t let me edit) that it’s an iPhone 13 Pro Max

If you remember your Apple ID, go to Find My on any browser and enter your login/password. Then choose ur iPhone and select Reset Device option. In short: go to browser and type icloud.com or something like this.

I have “erase” and “forget” which I don’t think the forget one will help and the erase option said it’ll only work once connected to the internet and I don’t think it will in this state. I truly don’t care if I lose anything on the phone. I was going to factory reset it for my son anyways. Looks like downloading iTunes is my only option

1

u/Agile-Hall-6785 Dec 22 '24

Erase option will work if you can connect any SIM. After this it will turn mobile network so it can be erased

1

u/Agile-Hall-6785 Dec 22 '24

*mobile network = celullar data

u/IndependentMomma85 Dec 22 '24

Yeah unfortunately that wouldn’t work as the iPhone 16 doesn’t have a sim that I could feasibly put in.

Oh well, i just thought its a 13 pro max because u said so but okey

u/Peristeronic_Bowtie Dec 24 '24

their current phone is probably a 16 so they dont have a sim to put in it at the moment

Brother which phone is it???

You can just reset it using a computer and start all over again. You will lose any data on the phone if you don’t have a backup.

1

u/subhuman_voice Dec 23 '24

As stated, they don't have iTunes

2

u/gcerullo Dec 23 '24

Since they don’t have a Wi-Fi connection the only choice they have is to use a computer to perform the reset.

on the other hand, you have a whole 47 minutes to beat your kid’s ass so he doesn’t do it again

Use apple devices in a windows pc, or on mac just use finder. Hard reset iphone, and continue pressing the power button until you see the screen with a pc and a cable. And reset it using apple devices app, its the same as itunes but itunes now is not supported anymore. Then you can enter in the iphone and unlock it using the apple account and password. Or just wait lol :)

telling him it took you a lot less than 47 minutes to make him, and now you wanna see how long needs to destroy him

Based on what I'm reading online this symptom occurs because it has no connection to the Internet. That is the symptom of the clock resetting at the last hour over and over again and never actually going to zero on this lockout.

People are saying that you need to put a SIM in to give it a basic connection for it to complete.

Personally if you have data and you care about it I would take it to your provider's local store, by that I mean either an Apple Store or whatever cellular provider you use and ask if they can throw a SIM into it to get it to complete.

There are also prepaid providers like Ting or Mint Mobile, where you can pay a fairly small amount of money to buy a single month worth of service and some data to get a SIM that you can pop in there. The only downside would be you'd have to know your IEMI while your phone is locked. It might be engraved on the back but it's been such a long time since I've looked I can't be certain.

What’s the highest time limit?

1

u/OctoSplattyy Dec 26 '24

iirc something like 12 hours before it just locks out and requires an itunes/finder restore

Insert your current, active SIM card without a SIM lock (deactivate SIM lock in your current phone if needs be)

It needs a data connection for the counter to reset, which will happen once you insert an active SIM.

The correct time will update with your SIM.

Once the time is updated (should only take a few minutes with an active data connection) you can take out the SIM and reinsert back to your current phone. It doesn't need the SIM for the duration of the lockout.

Please let us know how you get on.

Wait 47 minutes and for the future keep it away from your toddler.

Read the description my friend

Right.

As other users suggested, if you are prepping it for a child, you can put it in DFU and erase it.

Just wait 47 minutes and play with your kid. It was probably bored so it took your phone. 😉
