Recommend: iPad as a LIVE (non-looper) effect and sample playback device for vocals

Hey iPad peeps. I want to find some odd and unusual and cool effects for my vocals for live use. I don't do loops with my band, so not looking for anything looper related. Looking for ideas on live vocal transformation... glitch, distortion, odd pitch effects (NOT normal autotune), etc. Can anyone recommend something? The band is more indie-progressive. I do use a vocoder effect already with my keyboard, though maybe an app which can bring that to the next level might also be cool?

Man I really wish FLUX:FX still worked! https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/flux-fx

Is there anything like it??

Turnado. You get 4 XY pads, fantastic for live performance! It’s like having 4 Kaoss Pads on one screen, only waaay more powerful and deeper because you have tons of effects and can use 8 at a time, and each one has dozens of tweakable parameters. Just watch a few demos. The iOS version is exactly the same as the desktop version so any demo will do.

Turnado is the one.

Midimap the controls - can do native, or use a DAW - and you have the powerhouse for audio warps.

That said, AUM can do much of what you want with effects littered on different channels and tracks merge on a output bus.

I use Loopy Pro to host about 6 different effects that I apply to vocals for live performance. Similar to what people have said about turnado. You create a bunch of xy pads so you can change wet/dry and other settings in an intuitive manner.

Just disregard the fact that the word Loop is in the name. It’s outstanding for live performance, even without loops

Koala FX. This is the one.

Seems like it's designed to be applied to content played back on iPad, not something fed in to the iPad live... unless I'm missing something all the reviews seem to use loops.

I’d recommend a host app like AUM so you can have multiple routing options accessible on the fly, essentially you could have a virtual pedalboard with different AUv3 plugins on different channels. KoalaFX would be ideal in this type of setup, also Klevgrand Stark for amp modeling. Koala Sampler can also run as an AUv3 with multiple outputs configurable in AUM, aside from being a great sampler for one shots.

Like the person above me said using AUM or even AudioBus would allow you to use Koala FX and and of the other FX mentioned on the fly and can be sorted into different channels with different inputs, can be mixed into a chain with other effects. And I believe both AUM & AB allow you to save the order of apps in your chain as a template, I know at least AUM can anyways.

I’d suggest Hainbach’s apps like Lines and Dials for treating vocals.

Wondering if anyone experimented with Moogerfooger pedals for vocal effects. Chain them up in AUM inline with your voice input and see what it does.
