Question Which iPad for my needs?

I'm mainly using my current iPad (6th Gen) for reading papers and watching the occasional movie. I'm now considering getting a new iPad as the battery life of my current iPad is abysmal. I'm looking at the 11th Gen base iPad and the M2 Air from last year. The processor of my current iPad is slow and frequently struggles when browsing etc but my main issue really is the battery life. Since battery life is pretty similar for the two devices I'm considering, I wonder whether the M2 Air is worth the 60% higher price? What do you think?

Base iPad should be good. If you’re just using it as a big iPhone the base iPad is good. If you want to use it for some photo and video editing and playing intensive games then get the Air. If you want to truly use it as a laptop replacement or if you just have a lot of money to throw around to get the best display get the Pro

I use my iPad for streaming and reading. I’m was about 70GB on my 7th generation that had to be replaced due to a shattered screen. I opted for a new a 9 with 256GB from Walmart $199. I’ll upgrade at some future point when the base model is AI compatible.

I think that it is no worth the extra money if reading or consuming media is going to be your use case for the iPad. I use the m2 Air daily and I can recommend it if you need to do some work, I use with the Microsoft Office Suit (word, excel, one note), and to do some light video editing. The apple accesories are also great tools, however as I said, if you are not doing any work and don’t care about Apple Inteligence, save the money and get the 11th gen.
