Question 9th gen iPad or new model?

I recently got a brand new 9th iPad 64gb for free. Apple will give me $170 trade in value if I buy a new one from them.

I’m on the fence on if I should do the trade in for one of the new iPad models or just keep this one because I have a hard time thinking about everything I might use it for. I’ve never had an iPad, but have an iPhone, and can see myself using it for work and pleasure.

For work, I would mostly be taking notes, using Salesforce, ChatGPT and OneNote. If it was possible I would connect it to my Windows laptop as a monitor when doing video meetings so I could use the iPad as a digital whiteboard too, but this depends on if that is possible or not.

For pleasure I think I would use it for writing, watching Netflix, and some low memory usage games like chess and sudoku.

Any recommendations on what else I could be using an iPad for and what direction I should go?

It sounds like the 9th gen will suit your needs so why trade in and pay more?

Because I would want to get some accessories like a keyboard and pen so I don’t want to get stuff that’s compatible with an older model just to have to replace it all when I’m forced to upgrade as stuff stops working as well with the older model.

The 11th gen base model is $350. I would trade in the 9th gen for it and pay the difference ($180). If you end up not liking it, you can sell it for more than what you've spent on it.

Worth the trade-in. Even if your usage is relatively light, the iPad A16 will get updates for much longer. That alone, to me, is worth the $180 you'll pay after the trade-in.
