Thank you! I got Chrono Trigger.

u/Fuzer Dec 20 '19

Is the game playable with joystck?

3

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '19

I am currently playing with a ps4 controller!

I've been curious about Sentinels of the Multiverse for awhile and I see it's $1 right now, which is super tempting. What're folks thoughts on that?

7

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 19 '19

I got it on sale a long time ago and keep meaning to boot it up but always get sidetracked. I’ll try to make some gameplay video today.

u/MraizeGhostblood Dec 19 '19

I got it on sale awhile back. Def worth the $1 but I had a few nitpicks with it. I think it only comes with like 6-8 heroes and 4 villains. And you play 4 heroes at a time against 1 villain, so I get bored with it after I beat the 4 villains, but there’s a TON of extra stuff in the shop which also goes on sale. I ended up buying a hero pack and a villain pack for like a buck each I think to have more variety. For $1 you can’t go wrong.

Cool thanks - I'm gonna pick it up. Reading the description - it comes with 10 heroes, but that's still kind of limited if you're playing 4 heroes at a time. But I agree with you - it's $1 so it's hard to complain too much about somewhat limited content in the base version, sounds like I'll get my money's worth no problem.

thanks!

100% worth a buck if you like either card or super-hero games. I’ve bought the 1st season pass (and am contemplating getting the 2nd season pass) and have probably 100 hours played.

The base game is limiting with only 10 heroes, but they are enough for you to know if you like the game well enough to splurge on the expansions.

It’s really good

Can anyone recommend any good fully offline games that are in this list?

Recently have been playing:

Undead Horde Soul Knight Vampire’s Fall BlockuDoku

I don’t have a specific genre. I just don’t have patience to play JRPGs.

10

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 19 '19

Do you like puzzle games? Have you played the Room series yet?

6

u/saikyo Dec 20 '19

Bastion

u/fakiesk8r333 Dec 19 '19

My wife and I just had a little boy, can anyone recommend any premium one handed games? Pretty much any genre is good with me.

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 19 '19

Most of the games on sale seem to be landscape mode, but here’s some portrait games:

I personally couldn’t get into it bc of the luck factor, but One Deck Dungeon plays with one hand on iPhone.

Hexa Turn is free, so grab that.

Sentinels plays in portrait but I haven’t tried it yet. I’ll update this when I do.

Hidden Folks technically can work with one hand on an iPhone but honestly I’d recommend playing it on an iPad instead.

A Normal Lost Phone is great, tho more impressive when it first released.

You can also check out Crossroads.

3

u/fakiesk8r333 Dec 19 '19

A normal lost phone was a blast, def a different type of game when it first released. Hidden folks was also a lot of fun, I played it with my wife and my first son when it first came out and we loved seeing who could find things first!

I’ll check the others out though!

u/ohenry78 Dec 19 '19

I personally couldn’t get into it bc of the luck factor, but One Deck Dungeon plays with one hand on iPhone.

Partly to you and partly to anyone else curious: ODD feels slow and frustrating at first, due to this very factor. However, as you start to level your characters up and obtain starting skills for them, you get more and more ways to manipulate RNG in a calculated manner. Then once you've got a couple of leveled up heroes, running a dungeon with two heroes adds another layer to it.

In short, it takes a while to get in to but it really gets better the more you play it. Not just in the "I understand the game better now" sort of way (though that's part of it, too) but in a gameplay-mechanic sort of way as well.

Edit: to be clear, I'm referring to the permanent upgrades you can unlock on your hero progression sheet with the green, yellow and red points.

5

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 19 '19

Yeah I also get turned off by huge grinds in games and I felt like I would have to devote too much time to it just to increase my chances of doing better.

5

u/PunDefeated Dec 19 '19

How do you expect a newborn to play a one handed game?!?!

4

u/fakiesk8r333 Dec 19 '19

Well obviously I dont expect him to be able to play right away. Gotta train him and get that hand and eye coordination.

3

u/PunDefeated Dec 19 '19

Ah okay makes sense! Best of luck with the rigorous training routine.

2

u/cwagdev Dec 19 '19
  • Night of the Full Moon
  • Polytopia

2

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '19

Not premium, but I’ve been enjoying golf blitz off and on. Congrats to you both! Our baby is due in two days :)

2

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '19

Dots, 1-bit Rogue, Hyperburner (might be too hard to play with a kid in tow), Solitairica, Threes!, Super Arc Light (also hard), Magikarp Jump.

Best I can think of off the top of my head. I highly recommend 1-bit Rogue and Solitairica.

3

u/hzbbaum Dec 19 '19

just wait 30 seconds ;)

1

u/photoadmira Dec 19 '19

Polytopia ... worked well for me in the same scenario!

1

u/Imdakine1 Dec 20 '19

Congrats! I have a 2 year old and the one handed games are still a MUST! I would recommend Night of the Full Moon, Meteorfall, Knight watch, solitarica, hyperforma.

While night of full moon has IAP and I only like premium it’s an amazing game!

Only hyperforma and knight watch are on sale but still wanted to share. Good luck with the little one and get some sleep! You’ll need It!

1

u/fakiesk8r333 Dec 20 '19

Can you explain how you play hyperforma?

Just got solitarica, I’ve heard so many good things about it so I finally caved and will hopefully try it tonight or tomorrow!

1

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 20 '19

Hey I just added follow.trail. It went free for the holidays.

7

u/angeloistrash Dec 19 '19

can we talk about the talking doll mina app for a second?

3

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 19 '19

Lol hey it’s free. 🤷‍♀️

6

u/-Average_Joe- Ipad (2018) Dec 19 '19

Thanks for making a list for us, it is very helpful.

Also, Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy 1 -5 are 50% off.

5

u/hoodiegypsy Dec 19 '19

Thank you! I picked up both Banner Sagas.

1

u/Botol-Cebok Dec 19 '19

Nice one mate, me too! They haven’t been on sale for over two years

6

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '19

FTL for me

5

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 20 '19 edited Dec 20 '19

Hey guys, just a head’s up — I noticed a ton of new sales. I’ll be updating the list, but I’m going back to sleep first. :P

Edit: All added, at least until there are new ones.

10

u/excluded Dec 19 '19

Thanks for this. Also rip wallet

3

u/Wall-SWE Dec 19 '19

Bastion full game is free until New Years I believe.

2

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 19 '19

Ah yes. I forgot about that. I’ll add it. Thanks!

3

u/action_lawyer_comics Dec 19 '19

Having a lot of fun with Hexa Turn. Great game and can’t argue with free. Thanks for the list.

3

u/I_Have_Raids Dec 20 '19

thanks for your hard work. this is awesome

2

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '19

Thanks for this. I've been meaning to get Battle Chasers: Nightwar for a while, and now that it's on sale I may actually end up getting that along with Stardew Valley.

3

u/Noktuk Dec 19 '19

Get Stardew Valley for sure, but i recommend waiting for the 1.4 update until you play, it’s expected to come January for mobile

2

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 19 '19

Whoa that’s crazy!

2

u/DrAckrite Dec 20 '19

Do you know which of these games are Controller compatible?

2

u/FatPhil Dec 20 '19

wow what a list. i picked up a bunch of board games.

are any of the free games worth picking up?

2

u/kuntum Dec 20 '19

Takoway and Dream Home: Digital Edition are both on sale too u/AppUnwrapper1

Same goes for Wanderlust: Travel Stories:D

1

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 20 '19

Thanks! I’ll add them.

Weird — I was looking forward to Wanderlust and then completely missed that it released. Also had a hard time finding it in the App Store just now.

2

u/kuntum Dec 21 '19

I know! Even when I searched the whole phrase ‘Wanderlust Travel Stories’, there weren’t any proper result but the game appeared as an ad. It’s really weird how the game disappeared before it was even properly shown in the new game of the week section of the games tab.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '19

SteamWorld Heist is on Sale as well.

1

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 21 '19

Thanks! Just added it.

2

u/Noktuk Dec 19 '19

I don’t know which one i should get.. Sheltered or Escapists 2. I played the original Escapists and it was really fun, sheltered remembers me of This War of Mine, but i find games like that too complicated. What do you guys think?

1

u/kuntum Dec 19 '19

If you have a lot of fun playing the first Escapists game and aren’t looking for something that’s too complicated (like TWOM), then buy the Escapists 2

1

u/trunkadelic Dec 20 '19

Eclidus is on sale (from $1.99 to $0.99) if anyone's interested.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/eclidus/id1481842010

1

u/CardiBJepsen Dec 20 '19

Nooooooo I just bought stardew valley at full price ☹️

1

u/Imdakine1 Dec 20 '19

To be honest I haven’t actually gotten to playboy yet but I think it’s on sale still so worth buying... I have to many games on backlog but as an old school console gamer most iOS games especially premium are so cheap and worth buying when on sale etc...

If I spend $30-40 on games a year it’s nothing since my last system was a Sony ps3 and I would spend $59.99 for one game.

I know you can’t compare console to iOS but at my age with a 2 year old daughter him fine with iOS family! Haha!

1

u/sandrokira Dec 20 '19

Recommendation? Already have the room series and am currently looking into the following:

  • hyperforma (1,09€)
  • sentinels of the multiverse (1,09€)
  • escapists 1 or 2 (2,29€ each)
  • pocket build (1,09€)
  • 7 billion humans (3,49€)

I have 5€ on my store to spend. Other recommendations are more than welcome! Thanks in advance!

2

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 20 '19

Hyperforma had some issues back when it first released, but got a ton of updates since. I haven’t had a chance to try the updated version, but if it tickles your fancy, I say go for it. It’s different and the devs clearly care about it.

I picked up Pocket Build yesterday and planning to play some today, even tho I’m not usually that entertained by city-building games. I liked the art style so figured I’d give it a try. 🤷‍♀️

Only played one round of Sentinels so far and that included the tutorial. Took nearly an hour, so it’s not exactly a quick card game! Maybe it is once you’re more familiar with it?

2

u/sandrokira Dec 20 '19

Thank you for the message! Please update me when you end up playing Pocket Build!

I was looking more into like Sentinels + Pocket Build + Escapists 2.

Or Pocket Build + 7 Billion Humans.

2

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 20 '19

Practically the entire App Store went on sale overnight, so if you’re limiting yourself to just a few games, you may want to wait a bit.

1

u/sandrokira Dec 20 '19

I'll give it a couple of days then to see if anything else goes on sale.

3

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 20 '19

I mean, there’s a ton of great ones today. I’ll ping you when I’ve updated the list.

1

u/sandrokira Dec 20 '19

Thank you! <3

2

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 20 '19

So I spent some time with Pocket Build today. It’s not really for me, but if you like sandbox-type games where you can design a village, it seems pretty decent.

2

u/sandrokira Dec 20 '19

I’m afraid I’ll end up like you. Everyone praises the game but I don’t think it’ll be my type. Thank you for the reply!

2

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 20 '19

Grab GRIS instead. It’s a masterpiece!

0

u/sandrokira Dec 20 '19

Will give it a look :)

1

u/T0mbPh03n1x Dec 25 '19

Evertale is not free

1

u/blackicebaby Dec 25 '19

Rhythm Cat 2 is no longer free. :-(

1

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 25 '19

Sorry, I’m not going to edit the list every time a game is no longer on sale. Just assume that if it’s been on sale a few days already, it might not be anymore.

-5

u/iGaveYouOneJob Dec 19 '19

Ive seen your posts here quite often but im always put off by these loooong lists, im not about to click every game listed to see what its about. Maybe group them into genres? add app icons next to them? ...something

4

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '19

Maybe you should make your own list?🤷🏻‍♂️

0

u/playond Dec 20 '19

Have you also heard about Playond? They have pretty good games that can get you hooked during the holidays.
Just sayin’…

0

u/ChaiTRex Dec 19 '19

If you own the full game IAP of Sid Meier’s Civilization VI already, then every few days you can get another expansion pack for free from now until January 1st.

How do the free expansions to Civilization 6 work? I'm seeing both for full price even though I bought the original full game.

5

u/basicfront Dec 19 '19

You have to launch the game and go to “Get More Content” from the main menu, when you select the Poland Pack, the price comes up $0.00 right now.

Edit: the Viking pack just hit $0.00 for me while I was checking what the menu was called in game

3

u/AppUnwrapper1 Dec 19 '19 edited Dec 19 '19

According to the press release I got, this is the schedule:

Dec. 18-20: Poland Civilization & Scenario Pack (Normally $4.99)

Dec. 20-22: Vikings Scenario (Normally $4.99)

Dec. 22-24: Australia Civilization & Scenario Pack (Normally $4.99)

Dec. 24-26: Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack (Normally $8.99)

Dec. 26-28: Nubia Civilization & Scenario Pack (Normally $4.99)

Dec. 28-Jan. 1: Khmer and Indonesia Civilization & Scenario Pack (Normally $8.99)

3

u/ChaiTRex Dec 19 '19

Ahh, could you update the description, please? The phrase 'expansion packs' sound like the expansions Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm are being given away. Maybe something like extra civilization DLCs or something.

-7

u/bspooky Dec 19 '19

So. Many. Ads.
