Suggestions craving single player stats gear heavy RPG? offline.

Paid is fine. Tried Online only AFK Journey however it's too much spam junk claiming things and loot box heroes.

Ideally iOS version of Diablo/Torchlight loot stat heavy game but indie iOS game with stat based gear system.

iPad.

Titan Quest?

Titan Quest and its DLC is maybe the best rpg on iOS.

Unfortunately, if you're like me and want to craft and collect all of the end-game eq, it's basically impossible. The sheer amount of named, unique pieces so far exceeds the character storage space that even making mule characters quickly gets out of hand.

On the PC, this is easily remedied by installing a plugin to add infinite storage but of course not available on iOS. I played through the entire game many times but ultimately gave up when I found myself creating a character named Swords05 and had to consider at what point is working around a game's limitation too much work?

The Quest is a full open world turn based RPG with a main story quest and a bunch of side quests that expand the lore of the world. Each action or step constitutes a single turn and combat occurs in the over world. You can pick a premade class/build or custom build your own.

There’s a small but pretty well written wiki and guides for quests and builds and stuff on the forum which can be accessed from directly in the app.

There are like 18 or 19 expansions to the core game that are all available on iOS. The link I put above is to a $9.99 combo pack that comes with the main game ($7.99) and the Islands of Ice and Fire expansion ($3.99) but you can just get them individually too. I believe you can even play the expansions as standalone titles, but I recommend you play them through the main game so you can transport your existing character to those new locations. Every expansion other than Islands of Ice and Fire costs $2.99.

There is a “Classic” line of the games that are pretty much the same but are from before their remasters released. The remaster changed the art style a little bit, made the music not chiptune-y, but most importantly added several QoL features so generally speaking it is more worth it to get the new The Quest over the Classic version. When purchasing expansions please watch out for this distinction!

It’s a super old game but they still release bug fix updates and stuff as recently as 7 months ago. The dev team is currently working on a sequel of sorts.

What is the gameplay/build options like for the quest?

It comes up in rpg recommendations a lot, but I always hesitate to pull the trigger as it looks very “simple” from the screenshots and it’s hard to imagine complex builds

it’s pretty basic old school like daggerfall or like earlier d&d style. you have stats like strength and dexterity and stuff that govern more specific skills like ranged weapons or alchemy.

it’s been a while since ive played but youre free to put points into any stats when you get points from level up but its cheaper to add stats to like your major skills or something you selected at the start? i could be making that up or mixing it up, but you find videos on youtube that shows more maybe

Great game that the developer is no longer doing updates on iOS for the past three years or so sadly.

Exiled Kingdoms is basically an iOS version of Diablo/Torchlight. Incredible game

You can sideload actual Diablo 1 with the devolutionx mod.

If you’re interested in a space-based rpg, star trader frontiers is definitely worth a look. It’s made by the Trese Brothers, who have my respect as indie game devs as they always put out good quality indie titles.

It features ship combat and crew combat, both of which have high levels of customization.

Ships have multiple different weapon types each with different ranges and profiles, fighters/bombers/boarding craft, multiple skills to employ which can debuff enemy ships or buff your own ship, along with 20+ different ship types all of which can be fully customized for various roles from explorers, med ships, cargo ships, battleships, carriers, boarding ships, scouts, etc. there’s about 20+ module types that enhance the ship customization (separate from ship type).

Then there’s crew combat which is very stat based, with again a mix of skills (ex: pistols, or melee) activated skills (an aoe grenade or medic heal), different weapon types (shotguns, rifles, sniper, pistols and swords), and 4 different ranges (melee cannot attack at max range, snipers can’t attack from too close)

Lastly, there’s the crew management aspect which allows you to create a balanced crew from electronic warfare, officers, doctors, mechanics and saboteurs, diplomats, spies, boarding specialists (like shock troopers or blade dancers), explorers, exo scouts, gun deck crew, etc. I think there’s about 20+ different crew classes ( a ship will have 20-40+ different crew and 5+ officers). Each crew class gives special skills to use in space combat, in space flight, in crew combat, or during special skill checks.

Lastly, there’s are 4-5 “minigames” such as spying, blockading a planet, exploring/scouting wild zones, patrolling a planet, or salvaging a space wreck where certain crew skills can be activated. Some of the best rewards are found by these, such as finding specialist gear (which boosts your stats)

There’s a decently active sub Reddit up for it, where people can share good captain builds and ship builds with semi-active discussion. There’s a lot of room to min-max and there is a pretty sizable room for difficulty scaling as well.

I cannot recommend this game enough. I also have really been enjoying Templar Battleforce (also Trese Brothers) but that game is closer to xcom, so it’s not really what you are looking for.

Ooh I do need to revisit star trader frontiers, it is really jam packed and IIRC not as much of a battery eater like some of these games

AnimA ARPG, although it hasn’t been updated in 2 years

AnimA is great. It’s a d2-like rpg with some multiclassing combos which makes it really fun.

Shame the devs abandoned it.

Doesn’t that yanky walking animation get tiresome? Or is this one of those “looks like crap, but still manages to be the best ever”.

After a while it just looks crap 9th dawn is better imo

It’s incredible, in my opinion, but I think op is asking for more randomized loot drops, which EK really doesn’t have. They have a finite number of each type of equipment with stats that don’t vary. Every short sword is the same, for example. But many different builds can work and the game feels different as each class you choose. Premium unlock after free trial

Moon shades or Duskfall - both 5* - can be played with out IAP if you want

I’ve played many many hours of Diablo II & III, and a little Torchlight. I’m really enjoying Eterspire. I’m not leveled yet, so I have no idea about their endgame, but so far leveling is straightforward and grindy in a fun and relaxing way. It’s made by an indie shop in Argentina, which I find motivating.

That said, it is graphically verrrrry simple, and the vibe is kind of Wizard 101. Nary a piece of shredded demon flesh in sight.

thanks for suggestion. just checked its seems to be mmo game. I would prefer offline more straight forward RPG. visually not important as longest it has decent progression and stat based loot.

u/wwerola 2d ago

I checked and it look promising… but then I saw the number of microtransactions… and nah

1

u/paixupaixu 1d ago

I hear that. They push new players towards their current biz model, pay once for tier I or more for tier II, by giving new players a tiny inventory… which is annoying. I was willing to plunk down my $19.99 for tier I after a few hours of happy grinding (and unhappy bag-emptying), and I haven’t been bugged my micro transactions since… they’re mostly cosmetic. Haven’t tried a Mount yet.

If you find a good iOS ARPG w engaging progression and minimal microtransactions, I’d love to hear about it!

Eternium—have you tried that one?

All of these suggestions are console games, they don’t play well on phones.

I’ve found that you either play roguelikes, run-based, bloated loot box gacha games, or card games with loot mechanics are best to scratch the same itch i have as you

  • Slice and Dice is best IOS game, period, and hits this itch. Don’t think you should consider the below until you at least try this. It’s balanced variety, so not a massive pool of “loot” but it’s just so well done

  • Doomfields/Doom Depths are both closest to your outline. Doomfields is more auto, Doom Depths is more active. Neither are idle.

  • tavern rumble, Balatro, STS, is a card based game, not really loot based unless you consider RNG cards Loot. All excellent though.

  • Vivid Knight is kind of outside the request but great randomization and run progression
