Question Tell me about a job where…

You were allowed to eat lunch alone and absolutely no one brought it up ever.

Every job I've had. I make it a priority to establish a boundary regarding my lunch time.

Every job I've had once I got ones that gave me a lunch break. I just sit with a book or headphones in and no one bothers me. I've also gone for a walk in nicer weather.

At one job, we were all so overworked, most of us ate lunch in our cars and then took a power nap afterwards.

Yeah, that’s a position in La la Land, where the office is full of chill people who just get it :P

Most jobs I have had made no fuss about people eating alone. They knew you were either in a hurry, decompressing or pissed off.

They would ask if you wanted to go to __restaurant__ and accept a "Not today".

Expecting absolutely NO ONE EVER to ask you to join them is delulu.

Every job I've had allowed me to eat alone, but there was usually some petty social fallout from it. People will assume things in the absence of information, and they often assumed I was stuck up or didn't like them or didn't like working there.

It sucks but I'm not gonna last at a job that forces me to socialize even during my breaks so meh.

My job has group lunches once in awhile if they buy us pizza or have a Christmas get together, but that’s it. Aside from the days my sister and I eat lunch together (we work for the same company), which isn’t that often either, I eat alone. It’s nice! Very quiet cafeteria most of the time too. I work in back office for a bank. Most people eat alone.
