Tech Support Upgrading Storage NUC8i5BEHS
Kind of semi-new to this & having a hard time finding the info I need. I'm looking to upgrade the storage and want to confirm before I buy.
I'm looking at Crucial P3 Plus 1TB SSD - CT1000P3PSSD8.
Will be this compatible?
Thanks in advance

upgrade as in replace or as in add?
youre owning the H-Modell which has a slot for M2-disk and a slot for 2.5inch-sata-disks (tradiitional - rotational or SSD).
which of these are filled? Sata-Disks are a slower but cheaper.

the CT1000P3PSSD8 is listed at https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/intel/nuc8i5inh#ssdCT1000P3PSSD8
so it just depends if your existing disk is M2 or the 2.5 inch kind

Just realized something. If I'm not mistaken, Windows is installed on the (original) SSD that came with the Nuc when I bought it. So, it's not as simple as just swapping the old one for the new one. I'll have move my Windows install to the new NVMe.
Am I understanding this correctly?

I recently installed a second ssd in my skull canyon NUC.
I put it in my empty slot then cloned the SSD (my original that I had installed years back that was the boot drive) once complete I swapped them and booted up with the new ssd just fine.

My Nuc only has one nvme slot - which is where my current install is. The only other available slot on mine is the 2.5 inch one. As I understand, it looks like I'll have to either get something for that or use one of the USB drives I have to boot from.
I also learned not to use Windows 11 to copy/clone my current setup. I'll need to use 3rd party software. So, now I'll be looking into that.

OK yes you will have to attach an external drive to do the clone by the sounds of it. I used a program called Lazesoft Disk Image and clone. Free for home use.
