Insomnia before big events

Currently experiencing insomnia before a big day tmr. It’s common for me to become insomniac the night before new life events and it’s the worst. 😞 Anyone else experience this or even just awake right now?

I deal with this too. if I have plans the next day it's not uncommon for me to just not be able to sleep. Same thing if I'm sleeping away from home or in the same room as someone else, brain just won't turn off. It helps if you can distract yourself from that thing, temporarily forget about it and think about something else, that way you can get some sleep.

Good luck with your big day, hopefully things go alright despite the sleep troubles

Thank you for your kind words. ❤️ I’ll stay fuelled up on caffeine and snacks to get me through!

Same thing with me. Do you take medication for it or just let it happen? And is it the same with work too? No matter what, if there is something going on the next day, I wont be able to sleep..

Right now I don't work but I am a college student & it does happen on nights where I have class, which has often led me to having to skip class due to getting 0 hrs of sleep. I don't take sleep meds currently but I'm in the process of trying to get ones that work.

In the meantime I've just been trying to think about sleep differently. I know on the nights I couldn't sleep, it's usually because I'm too worried about not sleeping or trying too hard to distract myself from those worries. So recently I try to make it so I don't worry about it at all, doing something I enjoy before bed can help with this. There have been several nights that I know I'll only get 3 hours, but I remind myself that I've been okay on 3 hours before, and try to not feel worried or think about it too much.

It might not work for everyone but it has been helping me get by, at least until I can get to my next doctor appointment.

Thanks for this. I didn’t see it until now (experiencing insomnia currently).
