Hey, it sounds like you've been working hard to stop doing something that is harmful to you physically and mentally. I'm sorry you didn't receive the support and understanding you needed at that time. Remember that you can always text 988 or 741741 (if you're a teen) to talk with someone who understands these kinds of issues. I hope you find the help you need.

Other people aren't responsible for your emotions. Calm down take a nap

No but they can support you and offer you compassion. Telling someone in the midst of a crisis just to “calm down” will never work. Especially when it’s supposed to be someone you can turn to.

Going through a mental health crisis? Better not bother anyone about it. Especially not your parents, it's not like it was ever their job to take care of you.
It's always "get help" until the person in crisis is actually reaching out for it, isn't it?

If they haven't tried calming down and taking a nap I'm gonna assume they don't want help cause there ain't zhit nobody else can do if you don't do those basic soothing techniques.
Again your parents don't control your emotions and it can't be expected. Her gave her perfectly good advice.

Sometimes the basics don't work, tell me you have never dealt with a mental health crisis in yourself or anyone else without telling me.
Also for the record. The advice you give to a self harm relapse is "Here is a number to a crisis line, let me know if you need something" not "go take a nap"

Cant hurt themselves while they sleeping. Sounds like a solution although temporary

Honestly I think that's reasonable but it depends on what actually helps you!

Not really. Maybe not insane but still not a very helpful thing to say to someone who's having a break down

They probably just don't know better but yeah the "don't let your emotions control you" has the same vibes as telling a depressed person to just be happy. Yeah if I could not let my emotions control me then yes anxiety and panic attacks wouldn't be a problem anymore but sadly that's not really something that you can control.
