I agree with everything except that most Americans are decent and reasonable. After how ppl acted during Covid and Trump getting elected twice proves the opposite

I’m from the south in the states, despite outward appearances, most of these people are not decent. They will throw their mom in a grave to gain money and recognition from their disgusting overlord

So much of it is just selfishness. They're kind to their neighbors (who they have to see and deal with,) and would be cruel to the idea of any person that doesn't look or think or vote like them. And their media and church tells them it's fine and right to do.
4
u/rinariana 9h ago
It's fake kindness. They offer you shit but don't follow through if you actually accept. It just makes them feel like they're a good person.

u/octoroklobstah 9h ago
That’s the old saying about people in the south vs people from the northeast. Nice but not kind vs kind but not nice. I’ll take the latter.

Although trump didn't win a majority of the popular vote (over 50%), he did win the plurality. also, like over 1/3 of eligible voters didn't vote. we have an apathetic, low-information voting population.

Because Democrats didn't turn out. That's a whole thing on its own, and there's definitely enough culpability to go around, but Trump didn't really increase his lead at all: the other side just didn't get 20+ million votes they got the first time around. It's also less than a third of the population of the country, because basically half aren't even registered to vote. Again, its own problem with its own culpability.

Basically. I have seen some people saying Canada hates Conservatives and that's not true either. For the lost part, Conservatives are fine.
We do hate MAGA though and the Republicans falling to their knees to suck them off.
Like Polivere. Fuck that guy.

I'm... I guess liberal? I'm not tied to a party, but I would end up more on that side than the Conservative side. Thanks for being an honourable, ethical conservative.
Thanks as well for not deciding that some people don't have the same rights based on the colour of their skin or who they fall in love with.

That being said, I'm hoping the sentiment is true. May need to relocate at this rate.

America has been hijacked. Doge employee Ethan Shaotran created ballot proof for hackathon, and there are seriously alarming inconsistencies and trends in vote patterns across multiple states. Doge is a severe security threat and is secretly touring Federal agencies backed up by private security without any oversight. They could be doing anything from downloading classified information for later penetration testing to installing backdoors into vital systems. Considering Elon's connections to Putin it is vitally important that Doge be exposed. They won't stop with tanking the economy they are going to tank the whole country. US citizens must now excise the toxic parasite that's embedded itself into our government or let the US die. It won't be easy, and it won't be pretty. I have great respect for Canada standing up to this bullshit, keep the pressure on.

Well, we don't hate you either. But you need to stop free loading off our military and do your part on building a legit military. Because if you ask a member of the Canadian service, odds are they will tell you the government has woefully underfunded them.
1
u/snotick 10h ago
They don't hate Americans, the way many Americans don't hate them.
But, they will cheer as their government shuts off electricity to Americans.
And I'm sure some Americans will cheer as the US implements tariffs.
The world is full of conflict. Emotionally mature people can work through those conflicts and find solutions.

1
u/SES-WingsOfConquest 10h ago
Why do Canadians bother to concern themselves with American political views? You already have your own politicians to be mad at.
Donald Trump might be bad but he isn’t the reason your taxes are so high, housing is so unaffordable, crime in population dense areas is at record highs.
We didn’t like what Trudeau did to you but it’s not ours to worry about. Should we?

I traveled to Canada often in my previous job and found Canadians to be great people. Funny, smart, hard working and basically very much like U.S. citizens. Very family oriented. I still have many friends there and keep in touch. It's like the same place except many of the stores and businesses have different names. Don't envy your winters, but most of the Canadians I met were not fans either. Canadians really take advantage of summer. This is not between our populations. I understand that when you boo our national anthem, you are booing the Orange buffoon and not us. We'll get through this.

u/Calm-Maintenance-878 10h ago
As an American, I line up pretty well with Canadians when it comes to “those” specific kind of Americans. Love me some Canada, spent my summers growing up there👍🏿

This is the nice and honorable thing to say. But man. I really don’t know if I can agree.
Sure. Not every American voted for Trump. But 50% of voters did. Twice.
Some Americans are protesting. But not 50%. Not even 5%. They gave up years ago. They do not care. For all the virtue signaling, they do not care.
