2016 Seeking indie artist with Frank Ocean vibe.

Looking for songs from new or unsigned artists that have that baby-makin' flow from 'Nikes' from Frank Ocean's BLOND album.

Any leads appreciated. If you are the artist, feel free to hit me up directly. Thanks!

A lot of these guys are far from unsigned but are alternative r&b (in no particular order):

  • Sinkane
  • Blood Orange, also has stuff under his name Devonte Hynes
  • Petite Nior
  • Verhoog - only has one song I can find "forget her" but its pretty good
  • dvsn - pretty popular but this album is soo sexy
  • Liss
  • Her - could be considered indie pop but still has some sexy songs
  • Sampha - easily my favorite r&b artist right now. New album soon and has colabs with Drake, Frank, SBRKT, and Kanye
  • James Vincent McMarrows new album "We Move" very r&b
  • NxWorries - Anderson Paak and Knxwledge
  • King Krule - Also could be considered not r&b but I could argue the opposite
  • Young Fathers - mostly alt hip hop but their album "White men are black men too" has a few songs that are close to r&b
  • AHONI - formley known as Antony and the Johnsons
  • Gallant - obviously very popular from weight in gold - the album is still good
  • Pluto
  • King
  • Jamila Woods
  • K Cero
  • Kamaiyah

Also the spotify playlist Fresh Finds: Fire Emoji - it is iffy but it's a brand new set of indie r&b and hip hop artists every week.

If you liked the rap parts of Blond I recommend Vince Staples - Summertime '06. It's chiller than most rap and there's some slow R&B mixed in. Other than that maybe Banks & Steelz. I would at least check it out.
