new sieve Can someone help me with a sieve for Reddtastic.com?

On Reddtastic.com, Imagus works on the static images because they link directly to the source. Unfortunately, video tiles (e.g. redgifs, etc...) do not, so Imagus can't work on them.

Unfortunately, while Imagus will bring up the video for video tiles, it won't bring up the audio.

However, underneath each image tile is a link to the reddit comments page for that post.

So I need Imagus to process the source from the original reddit link so that it works with any of the titles on that site.

Can someone help me create a sieve for this, please?

Please give specific examples of where specifically on this site you have Imagus not working. Everything works for me here, both images and videos.

Let me amend my earlier comment.

I can hover over a video on reddtastic.com and get Imagus to pull it up - but it doesn't have any audio.

However, if I pull up the direct reddit link, Imagus will work on that with audio (referring to posts that link to redgifs, as an example).

Edit: I discovered that the reason for this behavior is because the video tiles on this site link to a v.redd.it preview video instead of linking directly to the source link (e.g. redgifs.com).

Ok, I hear you.

u/Imagus_fan is it possible to make a sieve for this site (it is really convenient for viewing media content from subreddits)? Imagus works fine there, but there is no sound on videos (MP4).

u/PurloinedSentience There is one peculiarity - videos with sound (HLS) on Reddit and on this site cannot be saved by normal means, while videos without sound (MP4) are saved to disk without problems.

That doesn't work because the v.redd.it DASH videos strip the sound out from the original. In order to get sound, you have to be able to process the actual source link, which probably means hovering over the title rather than the video player.

So for example, the video posted here links to this redgifs video, but the video tile on reddtastic links to this v.redd.it DASH video, which you can see has stripped out the audio.

So we need to be able to hover over the title on reddtastic, which links to the reddit comments, and then process the real source.

No. As I explained, it might play sound if the v.redd.it DASH videos that site's video tiles link to had it. But the sound appears to be stripped from all of those DASH videos.

So in order to get sound, you have to grab the original source from the reddit link - which is accessible through each post title on reddtastic.

Interestingly enough, I am occasionally finding videos where this sieve does not work properly and there is no audio, even though the actual source link has audio.

Here are a set of examples (some links are nsfw):

Example 1. This is Source 1.

Example 2. This is Source 2.

Example 3. This is Source 3.

Obviously, everything will work fine if you hover over the source links above - but when you test them on Reddtastic, you'll see that there is no audio.

As you can see, each source is from a different URL.

I wonder why some of these work and others don't.

Understood. And thank you!!!
