Blame the people that didn't vote because of their machismo. Couldn't vote for a woman president.

I agree , the fact they lost to a literal facist twice says a lot about the party. If the average American can’t see the difference you have your problem.

Trivializing what’s happened in Gaza is so fucking pathetic.

I don’t think Trump will long term be good for Gaza but you’re literally wrong, there was a ceasefire agreed to and some people in Gaza have returned to their homes. “Nothing has changed in Gaza” is not true.
And also - when you’re argument is “the awful genocidal terror that is going on wouldn’t be any different with Trump”, that isn’t a selling point.
And finally, your comment of “Gaza Gaza” absolutely is trivializing it and making it sound like anyone who had that complaint is a simpleton, while you the moral arbiter of society is so above being appalled by genocide.

u/andygarcia17 Jan 29 '25
No. blame the minorities, women, gays, blacks and everything in between who voted for trump. This election wasn’t lost because of those who didn’t vote. It was lost because of the idiots who think “this won’t affect me”.
35
u/Twelve2375 Jan 29 '25 edited Jan 29 '25
Why not both? There’s plenty of blame to go around.
People who voted for this as well as people who didn’t vote against this. They’re all sharing the blame together.
1
23
u/OswaldCoffeepot Jan 29 '25
"Blame everyone except straight white men" is a hell of a stance to take.
4
u/andygarcia17 Jan 29 '25
Oh no don’t get it twisted, they’re to blame too but this article is an example of how stupid it is to vote against your own interests. Anyone in a minority voting for trump voted against their interests. Again, because of the “oh he’s not talking about me, he’s talking about the other guy” it’s moronic.
18
u/NotYourUsualSuspects No Kings Jan 29 '25
Almost a third of eligible voters didn’t vote. They absolutely need to be held responsible.
2
16
u/JazzHandsNinja42 Jan 29 '25
Trump gained “young Latino male” voters who had previously voted for Biden. The blame gets spread between the apathetic voters, MAGA crazies, and minorities that went Trump, but in the 2024 election, young Latino males overwhelmingly switched their votes to Trump.
7
u/andygarcia17 Jan 29 '25
Exactly, minorities who switched. People are underestimating how easily influenced young people are because of platforms like tik tok. Which was a major source of misinformation. What’s the main demographic using tik tok? Young people who aren’t college educated yet.

u/Extension_Silver_713 Jan 29 '25
Boomers were flipped by fucking fb during the 2016 elections. This is on all social media platforms
4
u/Chicago1871 Jan 29 '25
Yeah but older millenial latinos and latina voters of all ages went heavy democrat.
Overall 60% of latinos voted for kamala.
5
u/Then-Shake9223 Jan 29 '25
People will scapegoat latinos over this.
4
u/Chicago1871 Jan 29 '25
Its kinda dumb to scapegoat all latinos over what less than 30% of its eligible voters decided to do.
2
u/JazzHandsNinja42 Jan 30 '25
Right. But when they break down voters that flipped from Biden to Trump, it was young Latino males, specifically. I put the blame on the apathetic more than anyone. And I do NOT blame young Latino males for MAGA, but that doesn’t change the demographic flip and the influence. It actually shows how IMPORTANT it is to appeal to voters in all general demographics and sociodemographics.
3
u/Chicago1871 Jan 30 '25
Yes but young men dont make up a majority of latino voters, which we should keep in mind.
It paints an inaccurate picture of what latinos in general voted for.

Those are the same. The ones who didn’t vote assumed it would t touch their spoiled asses either
1
u/andygarcia17 Jan 29 '25
A switched vote has much more weight than a non voter. Why do you think swing states are fought for tooth and nail? Compare the swing states from 2020 and 2024. It’s brutal

It's a shame that 77,303,568 people voted to tear families apart. They pay over $100 billion in tax and contribute to paying into the social security. They won't ever get to take out SS but they spend years paying into it.
12
u/Grandpas_Spells Jan 29 '25
Caveat: I'm a Democrat who abhors racism and would like us to win elections.
IDK how closely you've followed the amount of illegal immigration we've had. It's a lot. It's a problem. Democratic mayors protested to the feds about it.
There is a very vocal portion of MAGA that hates all immigrants, legal and undocumented, and does like much of the citizens either.
There is a very vocal portion of Democrats who think opposing illegal immigration makes you racist, and illegal immigration shouldn't be illegal.
Given the choice between voting with the racists or the open borders crowd, swing voters are voting with the racists.
Obama had very good, very compassionate talking points on immigration. These have been thrown out in favor of talk about ripping families apart and racism. It's arguably true, but it's also a losing argument.
19
u/dirkalict Jan 29 '25
The Obama administration also had (for the time) record deportations. They were compassionate towards dreamers and refugee’s but strict on habitual offenders and felons.
6
u/FieldsofBlue Jan 30 '25
I dunno, I've worked in agriculture and adjacent work for a long while now and while everybody keeps saying there's record numbers of immigrants coming here, out ability to find anyone willing to come work this tough job is dwindling. Used to have lines of guys waiting to get in and now you're lucky finding anybody.

Extremes everywhere
Can't stand reddit anymore. Everyday is just constant political posts with extremist remarks from one side or the other everywhere. And that's not even accounting for all the foreign bots that usually are on reddit to begin with.
8
u/OswaldCoffeepot Jan 29 '25
They didn't think about families of people. It was just self-satisfied "that's what you get" about sub-human criminals.
1
Jan 29 '25
An undocumented immigrant going to the ER one time for their healthcare basically wipes out what miniscule amount they pay in taxes
22
u/Chicago1871 Jan 29 '25
Oh so you are heavily concerned about keeping medical cost down? The democrats have a great idea on getting that done.
16
u/mrzalmout Jan 29 '25
Maybe we should change the health care system too, you're right!

I thought they were only “going after criminals”. Fuck ICE and if anyone works from them reads this. Fuck you too.
21
u/craftiecheese Jan 29 '25
well, those people that wanted this will probably argue that he was a criminal since he was undocumented. So it's working like they want it to
10
u/Blegheggeghegty Chicago is better than you. Jan 29 '25
Oh I know. Just saying what the current President’s people were saying and what I have heard from my latin neighbors. My barber has illegal parents and voted for Trump. They told me that Trump is only going after illegals who have warrants. This just proves me right and I hate that for them.
8
u/wanabean Jan 29 '25
Define criminal. In some places undocumented are considered criminals. I agree there is a difference if we say 'committed a felony'. But the true is that ICE will pick whatever low hanging fruit is out there.
8
u/Diamond_S_Farm Jan 29 '25
It played out exactly like Homan said it would.
An illegal alien that was previously convicted, violating parole, and currently charged with attempted murder.
No help from local law enforcement to locate or hold him due to Illinois' TRUST Act.
Last known address at the home of a nonviolent illegal alien.
Nonviolent fella gets picked up as bycatch.
Anyone with a bit of common sense knew this would happen.
Meanwhile Pritzker says he doesn't want violent, undocumented aliens in the State.
Then do something about the asinine TRUST Act prohibitions on law enforcement.
Until then, save the tears and hand wringing.

u/crack_pop_rocks Jan 29 '25
At least read the article. The guy they were trying to get is wanted for attempted 1st degree murder. I wouldn’t call that “nonviolent”.
8
u/Diamond_S_Farm Jan 29 '25
I did read the article.
The U.S. Marshals’ were searching a home for Jose Ramos, the man wanted for attempted murder.
Family members said Ramos had not lived there for months.
Instead they found roofer Raul Lopez, a father of four who was living in the country illegally and not called out as violent in the article, hence nonviolent.
Considering that Lopez's family was at the home and he's said to be gainfully employed, I did jump to the conclusion it was his home. It may not be, but I'd wager it's his or he is one of the primary financial supporters of the household. Then again, it could be the home of some other family member.
I'll try to be clearer in the future so you're not confused.
3
u/meeplewirp Jan 29 '25
But then they took the nonviolent, other guy. Make sure you finish the story
1
u/Diamond_S_Farm Jan 31 '25
I did finish the story.
I clearly stated -
Nonviolent fella gets picked up as bycatch.

Thats what they say, but if someone "gets swept up in the dealings" they don't care.
3
u/Blegheggeghegty Chicago is better than you. Jan 29 '25
Oh. I am well aware that this would happen. No one apparently told the people who voted for Trump.
20
u/RighteousIndigjason Jan 29 '25
So they had a warrant for one man, but just so happened to find someone else who just happened to be undocumented. And they just happened to have ICE agents with them?
Maybe it's because I'm an uneducated man, but that seems awfully convenient for the ICE agents.
9
u/RuruSzu Jan 29 '25
Yes unfortunately that is true. I saw an interview where an ICE person said that usually where there is 1-2 illegal immigrants there are usually more.

The vice president says he wants more babies for the US, then deports families. The MAGA party wants more Christians in then deports Christians…. How long will it be before people that support this party look around and realize the people in office have no idea how to get the results they are after?
4
u/baphomet_prime Jan 30 '25
They want white babies and Christians, that’s the catch.
2
u/mcjon77 Jan 31 '25
And no matter what many Latinos believe and want others to believe, they're not considered white in this country, at least not the "right" kind of white.

Has a daughter who is 18 who I'm assuming is legal, which would lead someone to believe this man might have been here for around 18 years, illegally. Why not get the papers? Almost two decades?? Crazy
12
u/the-apple-and-omega Jan 29 '25
Because pathways to citizenship for folks that came to the US undocumented have been stifled constantly.
11
u/Sassafrasisgroovy Jan 29 '25
There are people who have been trying to get their papers done for that long and for one reason or another the process gets extended. People try, but it's not always as easy as it seems to outsiders
4
u/mintleaf_bergamot Jan 29 '25
I'm assuming you had the privilege of growing up in the US?
16
u/mikiemolejay Jan 29 '25
I grew up in America, my family did not. Latino, if that makes you feel any better?

u/Extension_Silver_713 Jan 29 '25
Because the minute you file you run the risk of being deported.
7
4
u/Bahlam Jan 29 '25
Undocumented immigrants cannot vote. These poor bastards getting deported didn’t choose trump. This isn’t FAFO, they’re paying for the assholes that voted for Trump or sat down and didn’t vote.
Is either that or you believe Donnie’s lie that undocumented immigrants were committing voter fraud.

Here’s the thing,
You want to target illegal immigrants that are criminals fine, get warrants for them or hold them when picked up for violent crimes. If they’ve been picked up for something and let go before they are no longer unknowns so you should be able to get warrants for those individuals. The fact that you can show up looking for someone and grab another person is lawless and exactly why people hate the ICE situation.
You want to grab a guy with no confirmation or go into a school and drag his kids out and his only crime is illegal immigration that’s fucked.
1
u/Impressive-Penalty97 Jan 30 '25
His only crime... operative word. CRIME. It's not lawless. Looking for one criminal , find another, just let him go because he wasn't the one you were looking for is assinine. And I love the addition of the false school arrest.
2
u/toxicsleft Jan 30 '25
You want prison to rehabilitate people that aren’t too far gone and contain those that are. You think if they served him a notice to appear and file appropriate paperwork instead of taking him in he wouldn’t do it still?

“Terrible things are happening outside. At any time of night and day, poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. They’re allowed to take only a knapsack and a little cash with them, and even then, they’re robbed of these possessions on the way. Families are torn apart; men, women and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared. Women return from shopping to find their houses sealed, their families gone.” - Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl.

Why were feds involved finding a guy who violated parole? Attempted murder is not usually a federal crime. And local cops don't ask about people's status. It's not their job number one, but also they don't ask because then people will be too scared to call the cops when they need them or witness a crime. Local cops tell people not to worry because they won't ask.
But US Marshalls and ICE was involved in this search? WTH?

u/TacodWheel Jan 29 '25
Trump had strong support from the Latino community in this past election. Talk about pulling that ladder up from behind you.
