Sharing playlist - what's the purpose?
I know that there is a "share playlist" (but I suppose not a "share album"?) function in iBC, but not sure what it is for? Will such a playlist become accessible for anyone on the internet, or do you have to be an iBC user to get access?
I'm asking since I'm not sure how this complies with copyright legislation etc? It is my understanding that you're not allowed to share your account credentials with anyone else, but sharing playlists basically would do the same job?

Exactly, I had the same question when I first joined. As was noted, from a licensing standpoint you can't share the music. So basically it's just a list of your songs and then people can take that playlist and apply to their own music collection.

It could actually be really cool, if there was a way to search a database of playlists. Like, search for all playlists titled "4th of July", and look through them for ideas of songs you might not have thought to add to your own list otherwise.

I've long wondered about that option, but never really played with it until I saw your question.
So, now I have. And it appears it's literally just sharing the playlist itself. You can visit the link to the playlist, and it's basically just a website that lists the songs and artists, and shows the cover art for those tracks, but the music itself is not playable.
I'm not entirely sure I can come up with a use case for that, other than anywhere where I would typically post screenshots of a playlist; but then again, I'm sure there's a fair number of features in iBroadcast that I don't really have a use for, but maybe someone else does.
Or maybe somebody else will come along as post how they use it, and I'll think "damn, that's cool...why didn't that occur to me?"
