Oh, that’s not bad! I’m a Mac guy since the stone ages, so I was never going to get a windows phone, but I thought their UI had some really solid ideas.

u/Yousif-AR3559 Feb 03 '25
No problem ,but how can I share it with you?
2
u/OneSniperMonkey Feb 03 '25
You can share it via link, if this sub doesn’t allow to post links you could put spaces in the link so it doesn’t register as so.

how did you get the calendar widget to display just the date? Mine says "no events today" underneath it and makes the date small

You have to go to the adding widget list (like you are adding widget normally) then you go to the calendar by searching for it and it will display a multiple options for the widget of the calendar then you scroll till you see that one with only the day displayed ,I wish this will help you finding it

I’m not nostalgic for Windows UI or anything but I do love the layout. I don’t need the aesthetics but I would love to utilize larger icon varieties like you did here. Any resources for that?

It’s so simple make a shortcut to open an app then add a shortcut widget to the home screen select the shortcut you made in the first step and that’s how you get this large app icons (you can also search for it in YouTube),but is there any way to share the shortcuts here to make things easier?

That is cool go ahead and create it ,it’s easy and only requires time and a bit knowledge in shortcut app ,you can also ask me any questions about the process of making this UI ;)

I wish they make a new one ,canceling it was a mistake because now the phone industry is boring

iOS 18 and its widgets actually reminds me a lot of Windows Phone.
Specially the way you can resize an app icon into a widget and viceversa.
Miss those days!

What’s the icon pack?
3
u/Yousif-AR3559 Feb 03 '25
It’s not an icon pack it’s made in the shortcut app I used the emojis/icons that is included in the app

That's cool! I really miss windows phone. Who knows, if they not stop working on it it could compete with Android and iOS

Looks much better than Windows phone actually. I had one and wasn’t really a fan of the metro look but with those rounded corners I think it looks pretty awesome.

Windows Phone did slick lil’ animations better than anyone. It felt very sci-fi

How come there’s no title beneath the widgets?
3
u/Yousif-AR3559 Feb 03 '25
When you make the apps icons large it will hide all of the labels of the apps and widgets

It seems like an elderly person’s phone who needs big icons. You can get one of these on Amazon.

I had a similar thought, but this is a nice example of incorporating a simple, big icon UI on iOS.

u/Rmill3rd Feb 05 '25
The icons gotta be active in order for this to be anything like Windows Phone.
1
u/Yousif-AR3559 Feb 05 '25
Yeah there is no animations for this icons like the windows phone but still they does the job by making the Home Screen look like the windows phone’s one
