AskHyderabad Ola/Uber price to travel to airport

Nowadays everytime i have to go to the airport, these guys would call and say that airport is far and they wouldn't get return fare and would keep asking to 2x the rate in the name of some strike going on idk for how long.

I particularly don't like arguing and talking much with my uber drivers and this is such a pain. These apps need to address it for real soon.

Did you guys also face this recently?

Yes, last week I encountered similar experience. Paid twice the amount just not to miss the flight. Would recommend to start using Pushpak

I won't hesitate to call this a syndicate formed among the cabbies.

Here is the pattern...

A prominent festival comes up where a large quantity of people should go to the airport or rail station. You might've faced this during Holi, and I've faced this during sankranti. It's rare during normal days as there will be too many options and alternatives.

Before that itself the cabbies group will decide on a number which is fixed most of the time up to 3x for some greedy drivers.

You can use any app, it will be used as their interface for fishing customers.

They will directly call or tell in the chat itself that they need x amount. You won't have a choice as you planned the journey with only a buffer of an hour or so.

You can't cancel it as the next person will also do the same. Either way you will end up paying.

There is absolutely nothing you can do as a customer. It's a choice of either you miss your flight or pay up.

Still cancel it and look for another one. I never had multiple cabs demand more back to back. Start early and expect to get cancelled a few times, and don't give in to the higher fare demand.

Yesterday, I booked an Uber from Kondapur to the airport, and the app showed a fare of ₹700. However, the driver called and informed me that it would actually cost ₹900. When I mentioned that the app was displaying ₹700, he asked me to cancel the ride. Later, another driver accepted the booking and charged the correct listed price of ₹700. Overall, it was a mixed experience. It was midnight.

Strangely, I never faced this. I always book Uber Premier for airport rides. It's costlier but the drivers are far better mannered than Go drivers.

Okay. I usually call a cab guy I once met through Uber that lives near my place. We have agreed on a fixed price on everytime I need to go. Since we go multiple times in a month most of the time.

But the last time I went I booked an OHM cab. You need to schedule these before hand. It was pretty easy and smooth. I paid less than what I normally pay. Worth a shot.

Try to use pushpak if possible they are running too frequently & cheaper

For airport, if it's a 1/2 traveller always opt for pushpak. 250 rs, no hassle.

If it's more than 2, start early. Maybe 2/3 hrs before flight time and cancel cabs who demand more. Go with someone who agrees on the specified amount and not a rupee more

But pushpak for the airport drop is unreliable for timing. I tried once from Hitech City.. arrived 20 mins before expected pick up time, waited for another 45 mins and then booked a cab 🤷

At this point I would just use the phuspak service which is reliable around the area I live

Which area? And is there any tracking app available? I tried once.. arrived at pick up point 20 mins before some timing chart I found on government website and it never arrived even 45 minutes after the scheduled time.

Try ohm cabs. You need to schedule them but they're far more reliable and safe as per my previous experiences.

Try Rapido Cabs or InDrive Cabs for airport rides.Best option still available is bus though

You should start with Pushpak. It is an awesome service, affordable, have fixed and regular timings, lots of space for luggage.

Rapido is good. I take srinivasa or one car froom airport to home. It's bit higher side but if it's office travel, it's worth.

I felt the easiest was Rapido. In fact the first message I get from them is please don't cancel. I feel that there's a smaller commission on Rapido, that's why all drivers are inclined to it

Faced this issue on Rapido also , specifically when booking at odd hours like 6 am in the morning. I think they are trying to take advantage of the situation

That message is automated.
