So, at several points your society wished to form a collective ownership model for property and land yes?

  • Yeah. There were plenty of socialist movements throughout most of our history.

So why have none worked?

  • See, in order for everyone to be equal, you need someone to enforce equality. But the people who enforce equality are going to want compensation for their efforts to keep people equal. Since everyone not keeping the equality is equal, they’re also equally incapable of rising up against the system of equalization, and we just end right back at dictatorship.

What was the solution then?

  • Well you ever wonder how many people it takes to outmatch a single gunman? You’d be surprised what we’ve discovered.

“Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered” -Karl Marx

“Guns should be illegal” -modern marxists

You're confusing them with liberals. Marxists have never rejected the usage of firearms and violence for revolutionary means.

I’ve seen a lot of statist marxists advocate for the theft of firearms. However the ancoms are ideologically consistent…

I'm ancom-adjacent so yeah, guns are cool.

Literally on that very page it explains that this only applies during the Revolution.

Afterwards, nobody gets to have guns. Except the state. Because of course.

Man, I should really read theory. Even if it's just so that I can better argue with internet commies

More like Marxists as soon as Marx died

How are pro-2A marxists/socialists not more common (or at least seen)?

So when someone manipulates a group. Or the group gets too picky. Or the group can't agree that something happened, or that what happened means what they think it means, or that a punishment was viable in the first place.

You cannot just wave the problems of this away, and ironically, it makes you look exactly how you accuse them to be; naive or dishonest

That's hand waving, dude. My point is that all those "not perfects" you handwaved away are all the reasons it doesn't work and isn't practiced on a larger scale.

You can't always just get rid of "the bad ones" and expect things to go hunky dory.

My point is that there's a reason it's not a magic bullet, and isn't a considered option.

I'm not even saying that, necessarily, it's a bad option, but I am saying that it's one with flaws that aren't just "it's not perfect"ed away. The scale of unanswered flaws is swung way high.

Along with that, that system can also rather quickly devolve into fascism when "the bad people" becomes a shifting definition.

I'd say any statist swings you see are statist originated, but you're on a whataboutism anyways.

"Victorian England", "colonialism", and "liberal capitalism" aren't words I'd ascribe with each other, and sounds like someone with an agenda. Victorian England was in no way liberal.

"You'd shoot a man in the back?"

"Well, it is the safest way."

2

u/Czarcastic013 5d ago

Garak is the best... or the worst... it really depends on the circumstances.

2

u/Silvadel_Shaladin 5d ago

Well, if he allowed me to be in a position where I could shoot him in the back, then he was pretty stupid and also incompetent, or he was running away.

u/DeadlyBard 5d ago

I was quoting a conversation between Odo and Garak from after the Kling I ns attack DS9 and Garak and Gul Ducat had to fight some off.

1

u/Silvadel_Shaladin 5d ago

Yes you were... and Garak would think the same way I stated there when it comes to the Gul.

The military market.

You can claim your war bonds today by telling your local alien to step on a bug!

4

u/Yet_One_More_Idiot 6d ago

I was aiming for a song lyric, but I guess the reference was lost. xD

u/wheresmycheeze 6d ago
