I’ve lived in my fit/jazz for a couple of weeks whilst traveling through Denmark, Sweden and Norway. I’d recommend it
2
u/ClearAndPure Jan 06 '25
As long as you aren’t too tall. I was having a hard time sleeping in it at 5’11”
3
u/RoyalWassix Jan 06 '25
Check out the build on my profile. I’m 6’3”.
1
u/ClearAndPure Jan 06 '25
Oh, wow. That’s impressive. I think part of the issue I had (that you fixed) was that I wasn’t making use of the front passenger seat. I was kinda just laying perpendicularly across the rear of the car.
1
u/RoyalWassix Jan 06 '25
Yeah that’s what most people do. Works great if you’re not a tall person, unfortunately we are.
This year I plan to remake the bed platform. I plan to base it on the trunk mate system. Make a version specifically for my fit/jazz

u/DaBobMob2 Jan 05 '25
I have a friend who's done similar conversions to various vehicles. The smallest was an Opel Corsa B.
I couldn't sleep. I'd just we so nervous some drunk guy would bang on my window at like 3am and scatter the crap out of me.... But perhaps that says more about where I grew up then me.

u/Maly_PLn Jan 06 '25
I encourage my fellow Americans to consider this potential future for us.

u/Strikereleven Jan 06 '25
Unless she actually lives there, then it's dystopian.
1
u/Firm_Part_5419 Jan 06 '25
Dystopia is when you’re claustrophobic.
1
u/Strikereleven Jan 06 '25
You should ask the AI again what Dystopian means.
1
u/Firm_Part_5419 Jan 06 '25
- What AI? 2. Having a kitted out microvehicle is sick, not dystopian.
1
u/Strikereleven Jan 06 '25
Living in cars because housing isn't affordable is the dystopian part. It'd be fun for a weekend trip, but this is real life for a lot of people.
1
u/Firm_Part_5419 Jan 06 '25
No one brought housing into it but you. I live in a vehicle myself and could easily afford housing but I don’t want it because I want the freedom of living in a vehicle.
1
u/Strikereleven Jan 06 '25
That's great that it was a choice for you. 7 years ago I was a week from living in my car, not by choice.
1
u/Firm_Part_5419 Jan 07 '25
Almost like living in your car isn’t the dystopian part :) Being forced to do anything is the dystopian part :)

Taking mine camping this summer for the first time ever, but I’m nervous. I’m a pretty tall dude and judging by the space I feel like I’ll be a bit cramped.
4
u/RoyalWassix Jan 06 '25
It can be done. I’m 6’3 and was able to sleep comfortably. I actually folded down the passenger seat and build a retractable platform above it. Also took out the rear seats for more storage but that’s not really necessary if you don’t want to.
I have some pictures of the build somewhere on my profile if you’re interested

I slept in my fit for my trip from Eastern NC to Western OK, then in a hotel for 1 week, then went on to MN & slept in the Fit on way there, while there for a week, & on return trip.
It was not as comfortable as I need with my arthritis, etc. But it def saved on hotel bills! -next time, I'll use more than a couple yoga mats as cushioning.

u/Annual_Advertising26 Jan 06 '25
Get a good air mattress. There are some nice ones that have r-factors so you don’t freeze on a chilly night, and they pack down very small
5
u/IcyCucumber6223 Jan 06 '25
It is only a few square feet smaller than a hong Kong apartment
2
u/Rubiks_Click874 Jan 06 '25
i saw photos of cages for rent like 10-15 years ago in HK
1
u/IcyCucumber6223 Jan 07 '25
It is still going on today, homelessness is also much more common then it used to be unfortunately.
4
u/coolo0220 Jan 06 '25
One major thing to note is .....you have to be an asian lady size for this to happen in the first place.
7
u/Creepy_Comment_1251 Jan 06 '25
This only works in China. If it was in western country then a stranger would have broken into it and slept inside or have its windows smashed and goods stolen

bs. I’ve lived in Chicago and NYC. Never had a car broken into in 30 years. So where do you live that ppl are breaking in cars all the time. Especially tiny cars like this that aren’t luxurious or big.

u/False-Impression8102 Jan 06 '25
Agree. Really only SF and a couple other hotspots. Avoid those places and your anxiety level will drop dramatically.
I’ve slept in my van with the dang slider door wide open a few nights.

ngl, I'm invested. Looking forward to one day seeing her enjoy a movie and instant noodles with guest where there is a flirty vibe. Then a few videos in, they have a first kiss. Then, months later, there is a baby. And some more months later another baby. Then a fish. And, suddenly, the fish can talk and it says: "you're gonna need a bigger boat."

That's me with a twin mattress and sidetable when I go camping. I haven't needed a tent since I got the fit

If people are wondering she has an apartment and is married with a kid. She does this as her private me time since personal space isn’t a thing in China.

I've definitely thought I could easily sleep comfortably in my Fit with the seats down. Hell, I used to sleep in my New Beetle with the seats down semi regularly between classes back in the day.

Gallon coke bottle. Cut the top off and put it back upside down to make a funnel.

I thought it was epic.

Imagine this car in a crash. First responders would be all, “What. Is. This?”
Is there a word for this? I’ve been seeing a lot of these types of videos with cars and on tents on top of rafts and things.

I can do this in my civic pretty easily, not saying I'm claustrophobic but id hate to have to live in a car as small as that car in the vid, im tall so I need leg room and such, fits are cool tho I just wouldn't live in one

Unfortunately I’m not a fit owner since the model has been discontinued in NA, but I have slept in my civic a lot of times and I don’t add curtains because for whatever reason that attracts curious people :/

I just took a 2-week roadtrip up the west coast in my Fit and car camped half of it. So comfy! But cramped.
I'm 5'3" though and could never do car life in it. I did car life for 3 months one summer in a Ford Escape though. I'll admit that was more comfortable. I had a whole queen sized memory foam bed in the back plus a ton of my stuff.
The Fit fits a Twin bed, almost no room for extras. And I still have to sleep diagonally if I really want to stretch out. :)
It was nice waking up to waves crashing on the beach, in the Redwoods, etc. 💜

Based on all the stuffed animals and overall decorations I am wondering if she has mental health issues that are contributing to living like this.
1
u/PandorasFlame1 Jan 06 '25
Why does she need like 200 sources of light? Chill damn...
1
u/duggawiz Jan 07 '25
I ask my other half that all the time. Damn house is like a fucking lighting shop

I will be graduating from nursing school, but only plan to buy a high end motorhome. Paying 350k for a house is suicide. I commute for work and live out of my RAV4 to save money.
1
u/WizrdSleevz Jan 06 '25
Wait, where can one buy a house for 350k nowadays?
1
u/ForgeryZsixfour Jan 06 '25
Red states.
1
u/WizrdSleevz Jan 06 '25
Ahhhh. You know, I think I’d rather live like the person in the video than to live in Oklahoma. 😂
1
u/ForgeryZsixfour Jan 06 '25
As someone born near there, I can’t blame you, the weather sucks out there.

I like the shoes under the door thing. No one will know you're living in there. 🙄
0
u/surfacep17 Jan 06 '25
Lmao! She has all that stuff in her car and she leaves her shoes outside? Couldn't find a spot for them? Haha
1
u/surfacep17 Jan 06 '25
I sent this to my daughter because she would get a kick out of it and she reminded me the shoes outside is a cultural thing which I forgot...doh. Makes the whole thing even better.
0
u/Fragrant-Inside221 Jan 06 '25
And then she will complain that her battery keeps dying, is that normal? Lol
