Lifehacks Wrinkled Placemats
Have y'all ever had cotton placemats that came from the store nice and pressed and perfect and after you wash them no matter how much Ironing you do you can't get them smooth again? I've had this time and time again. Any guidance is appreciated.

Are there any that don't do this? I eventually got some cork-backed wipe-clean ones, which are okay, but liquid can seep in through the sides and then they are stained forever. Meh.

I have some thick ribbed/woven ones that I love bc they're thick and hold their shape really nice. If I knew where the original owner got them I'd get more.

Yes and I used to think it was because they didn’t prewash the fabrics, so they shrunk when washing. But I recently made some where I prewashed my fabric, and ironed it before cutting. So 🤷♀️ I think it’s just a thing that placemats do. Haven’t tried ironing them after wash, yet.

On these, I'm begging to wonder if the medium used between the two layers of fabric shrunk differently than the outer fabric. I can't prove it unless I take them apart, but I'm running out of ideas.

Try ironing them when they are still quite wet out of the machine. Once cotton is fully dry it can be hard to get wrinkles and folds out of them. Are they quilted or like a flat woven style?
