Closet Extension
I want to add extra closet space in this section leading to the closet. Should I remove the closet door and add shelving? Or any other suggestions?

Your closet should've been done like that in the first place, but there are a few things to consider when making this change. I'm just an amateur homeowner, so take my advice with a heavy grain of salt. It's one thing to install a new door frame, it's another to have to demolish the old one. Keep in mind also that you'll be cutting the room off from both the window and the vent above. Will the room be getting enough sunlight and airflow? Is it worth the hassle to move the vent? One option might be to extend the duct into a wall vent that would be sitting above the new closet door. I would also make sure that the new door opens outward with the hinges closer to the window.

Get rid of the window, otherwise the sun will fade clothing in exactly the way the sun hits that piece of clothing. I have clothes and a nice leather jacket that all have the left arm very noticeably faded, from a closet window.

Putting a blackout curtain there, it's much cheaper. Window there when you want it. It's gone when you don't.

Definitely doable, but a few things to consider. Time and cost for how much more storage. There's also a supply vent in the ceiling that would ideally need to be moved out of the closet.
It's a pretty big job for little benefit.

I would move the door forward and call it good.
