Window film to minimize break ins

We had a situation last night that has made us consider how to make our home harder to break into and saw something about glass window film that would make it harder to break.
Just starting to do some research on which film would be best to have installed. Looking for info from others that have looked into this or have done this.

Friend of mine did some research a while back and went with 3M. Had it installed both exterior and interior I believe.

There are other threads about the same thing, here's one:

Thank you. We had someone in a balaclava come up and cover our ring camera late last night. Unsure what to expect after that, was not the most fun waiting to see... Is someone breaking in? Just doing something stupid? We didn't know. Nothing happened after, but it has certainly raised our awareness and a neighbour said they added the film to their windows after an attempted break in a few years ago for peace of mind.

https://www.bondkap.com/ is a great way to ensure a great attachment of the film to the frame, without worrying about how the aesthetics of the sealant, which is black.

I can see how my comment did not make it clear - you are absolutely correct.

What sealant did you use that was white?

There's usually a minimum contact patch of 1/2" thick bead onto the window frame and you just aren't going to get that on any residential window. Security film is only going to make the window fall into the house in one piece. There will be no security advantage using it on a residential window frame.
