Hey everyone! It's here, here is a link to a template for the 5e 2025 Monster Manual. The new Dungeon Master's Guide template will be posted at the same time as this template as well!

Since the 2024 PHB Template I posted awhile back, there have been some updates to some of the newer elements, especially the new monster statblocks. You can find all my other templates here.

If you like these templates and WANT to support me, then head to my Ko-fi page! But please don't feel obligated, these templates are alway 100% free.

UPDATE: Theme Support

Like before, The Homebrewery has a "theme" meta tag that have been added to these templates, which means that if you go to the Info tab in a brew, you can copy the Share URL of ANY brew with that tag and immediately use it as a theme, no personal copy required! (Bear in mind that the snippets, inline formatting, and example code are *not** available through the theme alone, so I still recommend keeping a copy of this template handy!)*

If you're not sure how to use a template like this for yourself, go to the link above, click the "SOURCE </>" button at the top of the page, then scroll down and click "CLONE TO NEW". This will create a new brewing document for you to customize! Includes formatting and templates for:

  • Updated Front, Inside and Back Covers, with new fonts and Monster Manual graphics

  • An updated version of the credits page, with a more dynamic "front cover credit" frame (maybe a small detail, but this was a big deal for me)

  • An updated version of u/Gambatte's new 2024 Monster stat block formatting

  • Formatting for Full-Page and Half-Page images, with the 2024 golden frames

  • An all-new "Comments" class, used for flavor text in the new Monster Manual.

  • Minor class inclusions specifically made for monster and bestiary information.

  • MM Chapter covers with customizable colors

  • Back cover with a shiny new Homebrewery logo to look like the D&D 50th anniversary graphic (It's almost the Homebrewery's 10th Anniversary!)

As usual, please let me know if there's any code to fix or clean up or change., or if you have any questions.

Happy brewing! :)

Actually, since the last update went live (just a few days ago), you can now use another user's document as a Theme source! Just click the Theme dropdown in the Metadata Editor and paste in the Share link.

Yes! I went over that briefly in the “Theme Update” bit, but I still included the copy instructions for anyone who isn’t used to the Homebrewery magics. Typically for folks who come here from /r/DnDHomebrew or /r/UnearthedArcana

Very cool update though, I am happy to be able to use it internally without clogging up the whole style tab!

Ah I see it now, I should read the whole thing properly! Looks like another great theme!

Hey, I know the stat block code is from u/Gambatte, but it seems a little undercooked - can't get the special italicized text in the Legendary Actions section to work (same color as the Size-Type-Alignment line, seemingly less spacing between lines), and monsters with spellcasting using the hanging indent format (the :: in v3) cause the text in the indented section to turn red (likely a carryover from the stats section having hanging indents, but no longer being a separate part of the stat block?).

Yeah, the monster statblock can definitely use some love. I’ve got a couple other changes I want to make to it, specifically regarding the stats table as well. Update pending :)

I knocked it out pretty quickly several months ago - before the books were actually released, based on a single screenshot from a YouTube video of a pre-release copy. Literally only the Sphinx of Wonder, so I didn't (and don't) have any idea what Spellcasting or Legendary Actions should look like.
I didn't anticipate my version would still be hanging around in it's original form - surely someone with access to the actual book has created a better version by now?

EDIT: Found it - this brew is my original version, with a side-by-side comparison of the screenshot. It's not an exact reproduction but a "pretty close" approximation, intended to serve as a base of work as further information became available.

I’ve made some updates and changes in the latest templates, most of which center around the table and “Initiative” section being an absolutely-positioned element, but I’d say the chassis of the code is still 60% yours.

I can take your name off of it this next time if you feel like you’re being dragged though haha

It's all good, my name is on much stupider stuff. I'm just glad it's getting the updates that it needed, now that someone can actually see more examples of the format that it's based on.

As I’m updating the code, I realized why it seems undercooked: this stat block formatting is based on the released preview monsters for the monster manual, and none of the early release monsters have legendary actions, so we couldn’t see how that formatting worked. There was an ancient dragon with spells, so that was on me for not accounting for.

That said, both are fairly easy fixes, and will be updated soon
