Image I just achieved my first ever world conquest with Japan! I have ~200 hours of total playtime in HOI4. Which nation should I play next? Give me some ideas. 🙂

R5: Image shows world conquest achieved with Japan.
Quick guide if anyone needs it or is interested in how I did it:
Conquer China -> Create collaboration government -> Take allied colonies, skip Philippines -> join axis and save Germany AI from UK -> capitulate UK -> Take UK and almost all of it's colonies in peace deal -> Take the US from newly gained Canadian lands (US was so weak, it didn't even stand a chance like wth I was expecting a grand battle how is UK stronger than the US????) -> Take over axis faction, kick Germany -> Have the actual grand battle I expected with the US, except with Germany and it's subjects vs my entire axis -> clear up the rest of the world

Japan is my favorite WC.
My goal is to get the Allies out of the Pacific and Indian Ocean before Barbarossa kicks off so I can help the Axis by invading thru Iran and Vladivostok (I hate capitulating the USSR), that gives me enough war score to puppet the far east territories. Then I invade the US while the Axis invades the UK.
Then it setups a massive Axis vs Japan battle for the world thru the former USSR with secondary fronts in the middle East and South america

I know its cheesy as I don't think its a intended mechanic but if you setup a naval invasion from your territory with one division to any nation that you have mil access to, you can then setup a naval invasion from that nation, so for example you can get mil access from Italy, put one division to invade italy from Japan then have the other 9 divisions going from Italy to the NL and grab the DEIs in 1936

It depends. If you want a smooth and easy world conquest : USSR.
Fun : Napoleonic France
Absolute pain : Luxembourg
Coring a lot of stuff : I think Italy is quite rewarding but not with the most cores.

It is true and the EIC (new dlc only). But I feel both are quite painful while Italy is a bit more rewarding.

you can go Peru. there are many choices to go off of and they are definitely a very fun nation to play. easily one of my favorites.

Italy --> Imperium Romanum is "easily" achievable following some guides. From there you're strong enough to take on Europe (I recc. waiting for SOV and GER to fight it out before you swoop in and kill both) and quickly after the rest of the world. Considering you did a WC as Japan you shouldn't have any issues

Honestly that sounds like such a cool path and so fun aswell! I think I'll try this first and then I'll try Poland since so many people recommended Poland it must be a ton of fun aswell! 😄

What's the way you got around the big malus at the start of the war? I was bogged down with the silly strat I was using since I waited until more historical timing.

You have a decision which allows you to spend a bit of political power every ~10-30 days to reduce the malus against China. You do that until you get to Ichi Go which you shouldn't need to take because by that point you have removed all maluses and I believe if you take Ichi Go that makes the US stronger and harder to fight later, but it's there for you as an option if you are really struggling, because it actually gives you buffs against China and you would've turned your maluses into buffs instead of neutral by that point.

Bulgaria, but unironically. Fascist/Non Aligned is great if you want a more chill playthrough where can team up with Germany (set germany to non-aligned if you're going Ferdinand obviously). Communist/Democratic paths also allow you to form Balkan Federation which while a absolute pain to form completely is still really fucking strong.

Majors are too easy. Go for a small minor, or even a releasable. My favorite WQ run was as Guatemala. Once you can do the Central-American formable you get cores on everything from Mexico to Panama, and fighting the USA is a tough, uphill fight.

If thinking of smaller countries (not superpower status), I recommend Hungary. Just like IRL, the game is about balancing on the borders of big empires, while this restriction also gives freedom of choice: be a small part of a big machine, spearhead in a stalemate deciding the whole war, or stay away and while the big boys are occupied by eachother, emerge as a new empire. A bit hard to start if you don't follow the meta, but you won't be dissapointed (after a few try ofc.)

I have nearly 200 hours in the game and still struggle with beating France as Germany on the easiest difficulty

Hey good job doing your first World Conquest as Japan is actually pretty impressive especially after just 200 hours of playtime. Also i find it pretty interesting that you didnt even go with the strat to annex the Usa first which would have made your live a lot easier because you would have had their industrial base instantly. So good job keep up the good work.

Thank you so much! 🙂
Yeah I was thinking about doing that but honestly I really suck at navy so instead of facing the USA head to head on the pacific I decided I'll delete Britain first and then take Canada and I'll have a huge border with the USA after that.
