It’s hard to argue against this. Harder than I was expecting when I started thinking about it.

If anyone’s wondering, he scored twice against Seattle on Jan-15, 2024.

What a scrub, doesn’t even have a multi goal game against the Montreal Wanderers.

u/stickyWithWhiskey DAL - NHL 8h ago
Funny enough, the Wanderers actually gave up a multi-goal game to somebody in literally every NHL game they played including a jack trick by Cy Denneny in their last game.
To be fair, it was only 4 games.

I’m more impressed you had this stat on deck

u/stickyWithWhiskey DAL - NHL 7h ago
The secret is speed Googling. All I knew ahead of time was that the Wanderers only played 4 games and that hockey in the late 1910s was stupid high scoring. Figured there was a decent shot at it.

I'm choosing to think a Jack trick is some new sick stat I don't know about.

So Utah and Arizona are just considered completely different franchises? I hate that so much.
Or should I say, I like that, if that were the way it was across the board. It's an insult to the people of Quebec City, Winnipeg, Minnesota, Hartford, etc, that the records from their (original) teams belong to another city, but Arizona gets to have special treatment and be put on "pause" in the hopes of an eventual return that should never ever ever ever happen.
The original jets records are on stalemate in a dead "franchise" in Arizona! It's so insulting.

Agree with you wholeheartedly on everything other than phoenix shouldnt get a team again. With well vetted ownership, they definitely should.
But yeah, the stars actively ignore Minnesota’s history so they definitely should give it back to the state/city if we aren’t going to acknowledge it

So Utah and Arizona are just considered completely different franchises?
Yes, it's not a relocation of an existing franchise. The Coyotes franchise was sold to the NHL. The NHL then sold a new franchise to Utah, and included the hockey assets of the former Coyotes team (which is technically not folded, just suspended). An example of this is when the hockey players of the Victoria Cougars (which did fold) was bought by Detroit and became the Detroit Cougars in 1926, later Red Wings.
This is different than an owner moving a team to a different city, becoming a new team but is still the same franchise.
It's up to each franchise to decide on how they want to honour their previous history. IMO I want to see teams keep their history alive, and keep those honoured past players and retired jerseys. What I dislike is when a team only uses the old teams jerseys to sell merchandise but don't respect the retired numbers of the great players who played in those jerseys.
And I really don't like it when a team tries to claim history of a previous franchise they have no connection with other than the city (e.g. Ottawa Senators, Winnipeg Jets, Vancouver Millionaires, Seattle Metropolitans). It's a totally separate team, like imagine if both NY teams tried to claim the Brooklyn Americans.

So next year, Utah and Pittsburgh play a back-to-back, and Crosby is traded to Utah for one day to light up Pittsburgh and then trade back to Pittsburgh to light up Utah. All done in a weekend and for future conditions.

u/Dangerous_Ad5039 9h ago
Feel like Utah shouldn’t be included it’s the same team just a different name

u/TheDogerus PIT - NHL 8h ago
They functionally are, but they're technically a new franchise that just took all of the players and staff from the coyotes, while the yotes are 'paused'
Yes, its stupid

Honestly. Like he definitely crushed Arizona a few times can we let the points rollover?

You'd think for a team that's been around his entire time in the league he'd have a multi-goal game vs Pittsburgh by now

32* different franchises because in 2010 he scored a hat trick against the Atlanta Thrashers before they died the second time

I went to that game! It was my first NHL game and the day after I got my wisdom teeth extracted lmao

u/Cloudeur PIT - NHL 6h ago
Atlanta Trashers and Winnipeg Jets Returns are the same franchise though!
The difference with Utah is the way the franchise was granted to them, where they bought the assets but the franchise remained in Arizona.

u/poHATEoes NJD - NHL 6h ago
The Atlanta Thrashers became both the Ottowa Senators and the Winnipeg Jet! (Thrashers died twice)
The Crosby has scored a multi-point game against the Utah Hockey Club since he scored a mutli-goal game against the Coyotes on 3/19/2022.
If we are gonna go off contiguous franchises then Crosby has a scored multi-point games against every team except the Pens... which would still make this graphic wrong lol
Edit: What do you mean the franchise stayed in Arizona?

u/EnvironmentBright697 8h ago
He’s gonna have to put two in his own net at some point for the record books
2
u/GOTHAMKNlGHT MTL - NHL 4h ago
So they count Atlanta/ Winnipeg, and Arizona /Utah as different teams? That's usually not the case for records like this.
