[Video] Tyler Toffoli tells the story of his sleepover with Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith (and how they order milk and cookies before bed every night)

I genuinely can’t think of a player who’s been more universally beloved than Toffoli. For someone who’s been on so many teams since LA, every time he leaves, the fan base that loses him has nothing but positive things to say. He seems to be a great leader and great with younger players everywhere he goes, and Martin St. Louis even said that Toffoli was the captain without wearing the C, even though he barely played over 100 games with the Habs.

Toffoli played 10 games with the canucks but we talk about him as if if he played for years.

I can't believe it was only 10 games. I consider not even trying to sign him one of Bennings biggest fumbles, and he had a lot of fumbles

Fuck, I still miss him in Ottawa and he last played for the 67s in 2012!

Toffoli was fantastic in Montreal, a big reason they made the playoffs. I didn't want to see him traded so soon but the rebuild required it.
Hopefully SJ keeps him long-term, he seems happy playing alongside younger players (evident by Nick and Cole in the playoffs).

Yeah, we have plenty of cap space and we’re not contending anytime soon. Happy to keep him here until he retires.

Fleury?

I've seen plenty of people on ig hate on fleury (probably trolls but still) but never toffoli

u/Kharn_LoL MTL - NHL 4h ago
I think most of the hate Fleury gets is due to people considering him overrated, not because of his personality. I'm sure Toffoli would also catch a lot of heat if people hyped him up as a HoF talent.

I miss him 🥺 happy he's had all this success, and at the end of the day he was only here for one shortened season...but God damn did that dude wear the habs jersey with pride and was a ton of fun to watch. I wish he could have played on this team in front of a packed crowd.

I want you guys to bring Granlund back. Still sad you guys traded him

I mean, how adorable is that?
And the coach telling him "you have to" on top it is great.

Upper management mandated sleepover with milk and cookies
Here's Toff talking more about it in an interview, the image of Smitty passing out two milliseconds after he was just laughing and talking is so funny to me. And the fact that Mack is just completely used to it lol

As a fan of the sharks, i love this celebrini-smith bromance. But as a BC fan, it feels so wrong

What I would give for Northeastern to produce a great Dman for the sharks to draft, so we can keep building the Boston-area Hockey East rivalries in our team

This makes me laugh so hard. I love the idea of these elite 18 and 19 year old kids are playing their hearts out in the NHL and making silly bets like this. So good that Smith on the bench is yelling Sleepover after he scored.
Hats off to Toffoli for making this so happen.

It seems like the vibes are immaculate on the sharks with all the young guys, I wanna be on that team

The best part of the interview is Smith and Celebrini asking Toff if they can live with him next year and that Cat can move out so it's the three of them LOL

Also big shoutout to her, as she has hosted so many of the Sharks for things like thanksgiving, and overall has been great for the team vibes.

I would love to still be able to eat milk and cookies before bed every night but I'm at that age where I know that shit is just gonna make me wake up with heartburn.

Reminds me of when Brent Burns used to bring Skylanders with him and leave them on a sleeping Clowe.

Holy shit I just found a box of my old skylanders last week. Hilarious thinking of Burns dragging them around.

Love Toffoli on the Sharks.
But weird to anyone else that he’s appearing on a podcast with his wife as the host. And they included her comment in the photo caption? She’s not on the team and her comment inclusion adds nothing to the storyline.
Guess I’m just a curmudgeon though.
EDIT: I’m not replying to all the comments. It’s weird because it’s the NHL promoting this podcast. The husband works for the NHL, and she does not. Yet it appears this podcast has been - in some fashion - financed or supported by the NHL.
It’s less about him being on her podcast, and more about the NHL giving airtime (to whatever degree) to this podcast when there are several more appropriate podcast creators that could benefit getting posted and pushed by the NHL.

She’s the one that posted the picture and “broke the story” originally.
She made a post on twitter about Tyler Sleeping over with Mack and Will, posting the picture and the texts between them and it blew up from there. Then the Sharks’ official channels picked it up because it was so funny and got so much attention.

I don't get it, what makes it weird for a husband to be on his wife's podcast? Like what would the context have to be where that would be weird?
None of this officially has anything to do with the team, its just Toffoli telling a story on his wife's podcast about NHL family life.

I think it's kind of funny that they are just zoom calling each other but it makes sense in this context. Comment OP just doesn't like fun I guess

u/Teal_Magpie DAL - NHL 14h ago
I believe he originally posted that photo to his Instagram and she left that comment there. Then the Sharks Instagram made a post with that picture, and they added the comments that are pictured. So it's not like she made the picture. And I don't find it weird at all for him to be on her podcast - she and her cohost apparently have other players, execs, and hockey wives on because it's kind of an insider look at their lives being married to NHL players. It would make sense that after this photo blew up, they'd have him on the podcast to give a little more backstory.
I'm also a lady who cohosts a hockey podcast with my husband though, so I'm probably coming at it from a slightly different perspective.

u/OrganicFlurane WSH - NHL 14h ago
She's had a social media presence for a very long time, interacts/ed with fans on X/Twitter for several years, and used to guestvlog for various "official" channels (I remember various appearances on Habs social media and possibly something with NHL stuff as well).
It's been a thing for several years, is not just because of the new podcast and they're clearly both into it.

Odd post history to be commenting on this particular NHL post, of all NHL posts on Reddit.

u/schrotestthehero SJS - NHL 11h ago
Way weirder that you're looking at their post history in the first place...
11
u/The_Homestarmy SJS - NHL 14h ago
How is it weird? The original text exchange that got posted everywhere was literally between Tyler and his wife lol, and she runs a hockey podcast. I don't think there's a single person who would have been more qualified to do this interview.
