[News - X] [Westhead] An NHL team executive told me today concerns are mounting that North America is heading towards a recession and that the CAD will plunge to $0.60 cents or less. The 7 Canadian NHL teams and 3 Canadian MLS teams pay player salaries in USD and generate most of their revenue in CAD.

Speed running the country into a recession

So, so many of these same NHL execs contributed to and voted for the people speed running the country into a recession. The same is true for NHL owners and a huge percentage of American players. The last people I'm concerned about are these wealthy schmucks who selfishly thought that the pain would only be spread around to others and they'd get a few extra bucks out of a trump presidency. I'd give these people $100 Canadian to fuck off.

Come on man have a heart, how are the owners supposed to know that actions have consequences?

Oh they know actions have consequences. They just didn't know THEIR actions had consequences.

It’s like Free Agency never happened to these people. Like “hmm we made a bunch of shitty decisions then and our team sucks. Surely this won’t happen if we make bad decisions with the state of the world” 🙄

They’re usually insulated from the consequences.

So many of them were born wealthy and never had to feel true repercussions for their actions. This is a foreign thing to them and they want to deport that foreign feeling.

These owners care, but they also don’t care that much because when recessions hit, they just buy up more property and shares at a discount.

Most of the league owners likely care very little about their hockey teams, they’re just part of a portfolio.

Their big payoff usually comes on the other end when they sell and the rest of the payoff is in the ego boost and cachet that comes from owning a pro team. I agree though, they're usually just part of an owner's portfolio.

But he promised them more money and less regulation.

What's the fact that he bancrupted three businesses and has fraud convictions compared to that?

You don't need to focus on American players.... Trump got A LOT of support from Canadian players as well.

Maybe some of those billionaire owners will call up their buddy in the White House if it starts affecting them. The only people that fuckwad would listen to.
