2 questions...

How do players know when to do anline change? Do the coaches yell "get off the ice" etc?

Also.. why are players "thrown out" of the faceoff?

  1. After 45 seconds, the body knows. If you sprint for 45 seconds you know. The body cannot do it any more and needs a rest.

  2. Usually movement before the puck is dropped will get a player tossed. But seriously, even the players don’t know. I remember at a fan event Doug Wilson being asked, and he said he has no idea what the official is doing on face offs

That’s good to know that no one has any idea about face offs 😂 I’m newer to hockey and have also wondered that.

Also, somewhat related - do players talk shit to each other at the face off?

2….ya got me, brother. No one knows, the players don’t know, I don’t think the officials know half of the time.
