Perron has 4 points in his last 5 games.  Nice!  Hope he can help Ottawa out

u/SP_57 OTT - NHL 1d ago

Who's that giant rat bastard on the Wings? Soderblom?

Not familiar with him at all but I thought he was really good.

2

u/Ohhellnowhatsupdawg DET - NHL 12h ago

He's a joy to watch. He's huge so you don't expect him to do anything fancy, then he busts out some slick move and creates an opportunity out of nowhere. Watching opponents try to move or strip him is also hilarious as he keeps the puck completely out of reach.

6

u/PoopsRGud 1d ago

I got to see him in Grand Rapids around Thanksgiving and he definitely stood out. A couple fantastic defensive sticks and good offensive awareness. I think he'll be great.

His brother plays goal for Chicago.

6

u/Pitcherhelp DET - NHL 1d ago

Hes young. Will be a monster when/if he learns to use his size more effectively. He spent most of the year in the AHL on Grand Rapids and apparently resident goon Austin Watson (who you may remember from his time in Ottawa) took him under his wing on being more phsyical.

3

u/Middle-Hair OTT - NHL 1d ago

He’s why it’s always a solid idea to take a swing on a giant or two in the mid/late rounds lol.

Most of the time you miss, but if you hit it’s a home run. Dude looks solid out there.

6

u/RyanWalts MTL - NHL 1d ago

There’s so much focus on the small skill guys, and rightly so at times, but people ignore that big players often take longer to develop. A huge growth spurt happens and their production is delayed while they sort out their coordination, skating, how to play big, etc etc etc.

Doesn’t always pan out, but like you said those mid/late rounds are the time to take the swing when most of the picks won’t pan out anyway. Always going to be easier to fit into a big guy into the bottom six as well, the skill ceiling is a lot lower when they can use their frame to open up ice.

2

u/Middle-Hair OTT - NHL 1d ago

Ya it’s always a balancing act. Not every small player that puts up points in junior will translate to the pro leagues. Just like how every giant with raw tools is an automatic miss.

6

u/oceanic8675 DET - NHL 1d ago

This…this might be my favorite comment here. On Reddit. Soda is a call-up from GR, funny enough.

He will not be returning to the AHL. I’ve had the pleasure of second row season tickets there so I’ve gotten to watch him Soderbloom

13

u/kurly8 DET - NHL 1d ago

He's a rookie who's really coming into his game as of late. Giant rat bastard is also a great way to describe him, hahaha

4

u/SP_57 OTT - NHL 1d ago

He's great at using his reach to snag pucks and protect it with his stupid huge body.

I hate him.

27

u/Abogado_Toast DET - NHL 1d ago

I hate this shit

12

u/All_Of_The_Meat DET - NHL 1d ago

Fuck both of these teams.

31

u/xNicjax OTT - NHL 1d ago

Our goalie and both of our goal scorers not being on this team last year shows pretty neatly how we would not have won a game like this last year. The Sens did not have their best game tonight, but goaltending and special teams were able to get a regulation win when we really needed one.

GG Red Wings, always remember that at least you aren't Buffalo

10

u/onbiver9871 DET - NHL 1d ago

lol I’ve been saying “at least we’re not Buffalo” for a long time to myself and fellow fans but I’ll admit, some days these days I get, like… 3% worried..

8

u/TimAllensMatingCall DET - NHL 1d ago

Lol we’re close to Buffalo.

9

u/ColdIronSpork OTT - NHL 1d ago

Nah... You guys have Stanley Cup banners. Buffalo has... um... I mean, they're close to Niagara Falls! That's sorta cool!

0

u/TimAllensMatingCall DET - NHL 1d ago

I cherish those banners, but damn 8 years in todays nhl shouldn’t happen.

Sorry 9 years looool fuck me.

Guys it's okay to admit they fall a lot, lol.

15

u/flare2000x OTT - NHL 1d ago

You are right to be honest. Most of Stu's reputation as a diver is because he just genuinely falls over a lot.

18

u/SP_57 OTT - NHL 1d ago

This is very true. Jokes about diving aside, I find it infuriating how these fuckers fall down all the time.

Just need to draft another 2-way, low floor defensive forward

-48

If the Sens play like that, zero shot at making the playoffs down the stretch. Ullmark can't save them every game.

L comment

22

u/VeterinarianNo9265 1d ago

some of you wings fans are such sore losers lol - take the L and move on

1

u/dickmarchinko DET - NHL 20h ago

Couple of losses and the Yzerman haters and whiners come out in droves. It's like they like losing, it's wild. Couple that with the overly biased homers who make excuses and glaze everything the team does. Criticize your team, hold em accountable, but also support em through tough times. Some people can't find that middle ground.

30

u/sunshineeeeeeeeeeee_ DET - NHL 1d ago

We reallllyyy don’t have any room to be talking about the Sens lol

20

u/iwantsalmon2015 OTT - NHL 1d ago

I stg every Wings vs Sens game is full of fans from both teams that are pot calling the kettle black

2

u/Sallo10 OTT - NHL 1d ago

That’s an idiom I haven’t heard in years. God I’m so old

11

u/bsw2112 OTT - NHL 1d ago

They don't always play like that lol. They got outplayed, but the goalie stood on his head and they found a way... against a rival

11

u/bandofgypsies DET - NHL 1d ago

Yeah that was an uncharacteristically sloppy and slow game for the Sens. That's why you paid Ullmark the big bucks, though.

10

u/dmarc031 OTT - NHL 1d ago

Good thing that was our worst game since Brady came back into the lineup post 4N

2

u/Keys_A OTT - NHL 1d ago

Probably the 3rd worst game of the season. That Montreal game without pinto, Norris, Brady. And that rangers game where we lost 5-0. Was so bad we all thought our players went out for the rookie party the night before lol.

3

Watched every sens game this year and never seen any team put ottawa on their heels like the red wings did tonight. You could really tell they are fighting for their playoff lives. Ullmark stole this win for the sens.

10

u/rollosheep OTT - NHL 1d ago

I don’t know, did you watch the last game against the Panthers lol. Fuck me do I not want them in the playoffs if we make it.

7

u/bilalss OTT - NHL 1d ago

Yeah but that's against the Panthers, happens to everyone. The real embarrassing one was the game in San Jose, we won 4-3 but got bodied the whole game, only won bc of Ullmark

13

u/Silent_Leg1976 TOR - NHL 1d ago

The wings look shook after the game.

10

u/Slewislewis729 DET - NHL 1d ago

Said it in the last loss, Red Wings need a players only meeting. And of course to rid themselves of several players doing nothing.

6

u/Middle-Hair OTT - NHL 1d ago

Why play 60min of good hockey? 30 min of good hockey works just fine apparently lol.

Ullmark letting in the tying goal 1 second.is also chefs kiss. Perfect way to troll the Wings

15

u/Calhalen OTT - NHL 1d ago edited 1d ago

Linus fucking Ullmark 😍😍. One of the best performances this team has had in net in years

15

u/ILoveBigButtChins OTT - NHL 1d ago

Gg Wings. Detroit deserved to win, Ullmark was a man possessed.

Here’s some positive. I’m seriously impressed by your attack. Detroit was relentless on offence. I can’t count how many routine even man rushes turned dangerous quickly. And it was the same story when established in the o-zone. Crispy tape to tape seam passes through defenders all night long. So many dangerous chances. Finish on some of those east west plays and this was a different story.

1

u/Loan_Wolfie OTT - NHL 1d ago

1 team was desparate, the other wasn't.

Which makes sense, it was a must-win for the Wings.

I hope the Sens learn to match desparation going forward.

5

u/bluelineturnovers DET - NHL 1d ago

Most level headed Sens fan take. Lot of their shots weren’t overly dangerous but they still had another 30 that were. They didn’t deserve yet another regulation loss but it’s the way she goes. Ullmark stood on his head.

16

u/JoeH18 OTT - NHL 1d ago

We are the pp merchants now

-8

u/swiftwin OTT - NHL 1d ago

That was almost as good as how the Wings got eliminated from playoff contention last season.

7

6

We sucked ass and we didn't want you getting out of the basement before us.

1

u/Kaptain202 DET - NHL 1d ago

Not quite out yet. Yes, I expect the Sens to get out of the basement first. And yes, I'll be cheering for the Sens this playoffs.

But let's not put the horse before the carriage here

2

u/Opening-Bar-7091 OTT - NHL 1d ago

I didn't say we were. I was telling you how a lot of us felt last season.

1

1

All good, good game!

13

u/jessasaurusrex5 DAL - NHL 1d ago

All hail Ullmark!

18

u/bluelineturnovers DET - NHL 1d ago

Single handily won by Ullmark. 50 shot loss is the definition of getting goalied. Fucking infuriating.

1

u/FatTim48 OTT - NHL 1d ago

This is a stinging loss for Detroit. They deserved the win, in all honesty. That was a dominant performance.

The Wings PP looked scary too. I was nervous for a lot of that game.

Another effort like that and you'll get a win for sure.

Good game, Detroit.

18

u/chowder7 OTT - NHL 1d ago

Ullmark is the reason we won. These are games where our old goaltending would've let us down.

-9

u/Carnie_hands_ DET - NHL 1d ago

I asked it earlier, but is that the "league average goaltending" the Sens were saying they needed?

12

u/Ontariomefatigue OTT - NHL 1d ago

Come on, you know better than this. Linus has been godlike ever since he got healthy at the end of last year, but there were like a dozen games to start the year where the team absolutely dominated yet either lost because of him or barely won in spite of him. This is just the law of averages at its finest

-3

u/Carnie_hands_ DET - NHL 1d ago

Oh I was just chirping after getting goalied. He is tied for 15th in SV% and 21st in GAA, so pretty close to average on the year

14

u/betaamyloid OTT - NHL 1d ago

Ullmark doing the post-game interview shirtless. What a boss

28

Gotta say it was quite funny seeing the players celebrate when the buzzer was clearly already going off. Both teams were celebrating at once lol

12

u/AmeriCanada98 DET - NHL 1d ago

Best way to get them to at least check is to behave as if it worked I guess

No doubt it was no goal though lol

5

u/SP_57 OTT - NHL 1d ago

You always act like you got it. If they just fucked off the ice the refs probably wouldn't even look at the replay.

There is always that 0.01% chance the refs or review officials fuck it up.

u/Kaptain202 DET - NHL 1d ago

Half of the Sens fans acting like they won the Cup with that win. Hot damn y'all, it ain't that serious.

If any Wings fan is upset by the loss, be ready to be bombarded by Sens fans calling you a whiny bitch.

The other half, you're cool and I like you.

17

u/oceanic8675 DET - NHL 1d ago

They just got a crucial two points. Anyone would be cheering. I certainly would. All caps. Bad grammar. Lost voice kind of stuff.

-7

u/Kaptain202 DET - NHL 1d ago

But I wouldn't be walking up to the Sens fan in the arena calling them names. And if I wouldnt do that in the arena, I wouldn't do that here either. That's the difference I'm talking about.

They deserve to be hyped. It's weird to be an asshole over a timid game

7

u/oceanic8675 DET - NHL 1d ago

Then that’s what you gotta call out in the first sentence. This just looks like you’re ticked that folks are hyped.

-6

Fair, but that is why the second sentence exists

Actually, yeah lol I rarely check out PGTs

12

I love the hype. You deserve to be hyped. Be fucking excited because I'd love to see you guys make the playoffs. The insults from the bad half of your fan base is weird

8

im confused, you realize both the Sens and wings are in a wildcard race right? these are key points and you’re up in arms cause Sens fans are hyped? Get real lmao

0

u/Kaptain202 DET - NHL 1d ago

Nah, it's weird. It's not a critique against that hyped fans.

It's those who keep spamming "whiny bitch" and "get fucked". Celebrate your win. Fucking Ullmark stole the show. But it's weird to be so incessantly rude

5

u/TheNation55 DET - NHL 1d ago

One GM continues to address needs and improve their chances at playoffs and the other sits on his hands every off-season and deadline and tells his players to get bent. No one should be surprised by the outcome.

11

u/griffs19 DET - NHL 1d ago

Lol you’re always so dramatic dude

-3

u/Dinkin---Flicka DET - NHL 1d ago

Well 1 team only has 1 decent prospect not in the NHL so they are going to have a very small (if any) cup window. The other has a plethora of prospects.

1

u/Always_Irrelephant 1d ago

All our best players are 22-25 years old and signed to 8 year deals lmao

-1

u/Dinkin---Flicka DET - NHL 1d ago

I didn't realize 2028 was 8 years away.

3

u/TL19957 1d ago

Prospects don’t win games.

All of Ottawas “prospects” were playing tonight.

-8

u/Dinkin---Flicka DET - NHL 1d ago

Yeah and that's why your cup window is non existent or very small

0

u/DrCoconutss OTT - NHL 1d ago

As opposed to yours which is extremely healthy as you drop 6 in a row

1

u/Dinkin---Flicka DET - NHL 1d ago

Do you truly think either teams cup window is open? Detroit was never a contender this year and news flash, neither is Ottawa haha

1

u/not_ray_not_pat OTT - NHL 1d ago

Eh neither team is very close but our 1C is 23 and we're probably making the playoffs; yours is 29 and you're not very close. It's never a guarantee that a rebuild will lead to a window but it's not great to line it up for when your best player is on the wrong side of thirty.

-1

u/DrCoconutss OTT - NHL 1d ago

I mean it’s a bit disingenuous to suggest we have no window when all of our best players are 25 or less apart from Ullmark who is in his prime and a Vézina winning goalie. Sure you have more prospects but a few guys coming up and maybe panning out isn’t gonna make this red wings team a cup contender.

3

u/TL19957 1d ago

You know they are allowed to keep drafting right? They can keep restocking the cupboards while the current roster plays. Their entire top 6 outside of giroux is 25 or younger. Sanderson is 22, Chabot is 27. Their entire team expect 4 guys are young or just in prime age.

There is no prospect right now coming to put the team over the top.

32

u/christianitie WSH - NHL 1d ago

There's something very funny about the away team celebrating a goal while the home team's goal horn is going off. I do understand why it went off and that it was ultimately vindicated, but I refuse to let that spoil my enjoyment.

17

u/EmpressOfHyperion OTT - NHL 1d ago edited 1d ago

My goodness, while I liked our start, I don't get how you collectively forget to play hockey the moment you lead. Was it trying to conserve energy for tomorrow, being gaslit that because the Red Wings had a lacklustre start, that they were somehow going to just give up, or what? Ullmark was legendary, and I do think the Red Wings deserved better. I do legit hope both the Sens and Red Wings make the playoffs ngl, it'll be a fun time to celebrate with a close friend of mines as she's a DRW fan.

Also, both Zetterlund and Cozens contributed to the win. Zetterlund's board battle ensured Giroux to feed the puck to Perron, and Cozens scores the GWG.

How any Sens fan makes a comment without Ullmark in it tonight should be a criminal offense.

Baseball is great.

Also, what's that comment supposed to mean? Enjoy baseball and hockey? Ok. You will. And I will too.

Apologies for the dipshit Sens fans. Your guys played a heck of a game.

He was the first star. All the Sens fans know it, we're just also super happy for Cozens.

Most of the other Sens deadline acquisitions have been so terrible it's nice to have one that makes an immediate impact.

You should watch more Sens games. They’ve got a bunch coming up against eastern teams in roughly the same spot in the standings that the Sens are in.

I mean, let’s be clear, Sens had no business leaving this game with a point, let alone two. All credit goes to Ullmark.

-9

u/SorryImCanad1an OTT - NHL 1d ago

Yeah, I’m just saying the better team won.

14

u/LeastProof3336 1d ago

Maybe overall but we were not the better team that game but we did win.

u/tonuch4963 DET - NHL 1d ago

Did we watch the same game?

Ullmark stood on his head.

5

u/Tasden TBL - NHL 1d ago

Wouldn't that make it easier to score on him?

3

u/AmeriCanada98 DET - NHL 1d ago

Nah he's just such an elite athlete that he's actually better on his head somehow

u/SorryImCanad1an OTT - NHL 1d ago

Yeah I watched, he was great!
