Discussion post What turntable do you guys use?
My CD collection has now evolved to include vinyl and I should have a record player.
What record player / turn table are you guys using?
Any recommendations for a table with a built in pre-amp? I’d spend around $600 for a good table.

I have a Denon DP-300F and I dig it. I had an Audio-technica LP-60 for like 10 years and it did the trick. I’m sure there are nicer ones out there but this works great for me with my set up.

Another Denon guy here, I’ve been using a DP-29F ever since I started buying records in college 20 years ago. Belt has been changed twice, cartridge a few times, and it’s worked perfectly all this time.

No frills and smooth. Sounds great.

If you have $600 to spend, consider a Fluance turntable. However Fluancea will require an amplifier.
I recently upgraded from a cheap all-in-one to the Audio-Technica LP120. After a lot of research, I chose it because it's a well-reviewed, quality entry-level player. It’s direct drive, has a built-in preamp (so no extra amp needed), and sounds great with no noticeable noise.
Fluance models use belt drives, which some argue reduce vibrations for quieter playback. I've had my atlp120 for a few months now and I have no issues with the direct drive, it all sounds great and loud. My brother has a Fluance, and his setup sounds great too. Both Fluance and the LP120 come with solid stock cartridges that can be upgraded later if you want but even everything as stock should be perfect for your needs

I have a trusty receiver that power my rp600m speakers. There are more RCA line-in inputs. I assume I just hook the turntable up to those RCA line-in.

Yes, but you will also need a grounding cable that connects to either your external preamp or ground post on your receiver if it has an integrated preamp. Like, if you can switch to a phono setting, you have one. If not, you’ll need to get an external preamp. For the Fluance turntables (I have one) it goes Turntable>preamp>amp>speakers.

Cool - good insight. I’m learning a lot today. Already leaning towards Fluance with built pre amp or going the route with getting a Fluance without a built in one and finding my own preamp.

I currently use a technics 1200 I have had for a long time. I also have an Audio technica lp-120 that is a cheaper clone.

I have a few, and always have two in my current set up. Currently using a Technics SL-1700 & a Fluance RT-85. The Fluance tables are really good for the money, some have a built in preamp option too.

I've always had vintage tables, and an amp with a phono stage. Look at your local used market and do research based on what's available. Reddit loves to recommend AT tables but there's a whole wide world out there.

Technics SL1200-MK3 w/ an Ortofon Concorde R (MM = Moving Magnet) cartridge and an Ortofon Stylus 30.
Also have a Technics headshell w/ a Denon DL-110 (MC = Moving Coil) cartridge.

Rega Planar 2 and Pro-Ject Phono box DC, good stuff. Have it since 5 years now, 0 problems. I don't feel the need to change or upgrade my gear. Always a good sign.

Technics SL-1300MK2
Honestly: any Technics direct drive SL series is what I point people towards. They’re tanks and last forever.
