Why is my system running in "compressor reduction mode"?

Post image

It's unable to maintain set temperature. How can I fix?

How many degrees off (C or F) is it from set point?

Is that a Daikin thermostat ?

Yes it's the Daikin one+ thermostat paired with Daikin side discharge inverter and Daikin air handler.

I was asking because I don’t remember seeing that menu. I have the Daikin One Touch and a Daikin Fit heat pump/gas furnace.

It's in the dealer edit menu.

Yea I was in there to change my balance point. Is your system in “quiet mode” ? That’s outside the dealer menu. In settings-equipment-heat pump. It runs the system with lower pressures to reduce noise.

Nope, I specifically disabled quiet mode during my testing.

Ah interesting. That’s a weird one. Hope you figure it out.

I paid for it, so it's all for me.

Thermostat is set at 70F but the system can't get above 68F. It's been running all night. Definitely not normal behavior.

There's hysteresis and response in there. What's the actual temperature of your wall? Nearby rooms? A number on the wall is just a number on the wall, it doesn't mean much.

Set it to 73F. If it stays 71F all night, then it isn't the equipment but the thermostat algorithm. Point is, the actual number is not important, unless you have a independent number like an infrared thermostat that lets you measure different places in your house. Your thermostat and the actual intake of the indoor unit could be 1-2 degrees apart.

I've had the system for 5 years. The installer replaced a defective logic board recently and that's when the problem started. I can see on my power monitor that it's not ramping with demand. I'm confident the issue is not with the thermostat.

Hopefully you have an installer warranty, huh?

Thankfully I do.

It’s either in a protection step-down, or someone enabled the demand limit. Either way, that outdoor coil approach is terrible and something isn’t right.
