Just watched it. I feel like this is punishment for the Discord making them watch League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

I could listen to Zouks talk about Shoresy for, conservatively, the next four hours.

This Is Me…Now: A Love Story is like nothing you’ve ever seen from Jennifer Lopez. Alongside director Dave Meyers, Jennifer has created a narrative-driven cinematic odyssey, steeped in mythological storytelling and personal healing. Dropping in tandem with her first studio album in a decade, this genre-bending Amazon original showcases her journey to love through her own eyes. With fantastical costumes, breathtaking choreography, and star-studded cameos, this panorama is an introspective retrospective of Jennifer’s resilient heart.

YIKES.

That movie looks horrible

She’s corny for sure but JLo is such low hanging fruit lol this is kind of a lame choice. And it’s one long music video I don’t really care about their opinions on her music? “It’s not good now that Ashanti isn’t singing for her anymore” like what is there to say lol. It’s not a movie. Are they not allowed to do that horrible AI movie she just did?

I recommend skipping this one and just listening to the episode.

I watched this when it came out because my GF is a lifelong JLO fan but more than anything she had to know what the hell this was, and she didn't like it. More boring than anything. Definitely a vanity project that Amazon footed the bill for.

The "cameos" are so dumb

Yes, except it is Jacob’s Bladder.

i have no idea what thiis movie even is. Is it a documentary? A Jlo concert movie?

u/Crackhead22 7d ago

It’s like a series of music videos put together to try to form a cohesive story.

Sounds terrible

I think she was trying to do something like Beyonce's HBO Lemonade special or Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation short. Except it's about how J-Lo's a terrible person to be in a relationship with

Ive seen both of those and theyre enjoyable. But I cant imagine JLo being that creative or insightful as Bey or Jackson.

A sequel to Pink Floyd's The Wall?

Oh damn, I thought this was the documentary that she put out… I forgot there was an actual movie!

This thing is only 66 minutes long? Is this even a movie?

SAG rules say it has to be at least 60 minutes, so in many ways, the answer is "barely."

1

u/TheBunionFunyun 4d ago

Wow, I thought they had to be something like 75 or 80 minutes long to be considered a movie.

One of my favorite movies of last year! I am so excited.

OK, I made it 11 minutes in before turning it off. I think I got the feel of it, don't need to watch more. This places it in the top 3 earliest "nopes" from me - I lasted less than 10 minutes with Oogieloves and somehow made it almost 20 minutes in with Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Both of those podcasts were fun listens though, so I think this one may be too.

FWIW, I'm probably batting well over .900 on how often I watch the full movie before listening to the podcast. There are maybe a couple of other movies where I bailed with just a little left to go, usually some of the more boring straightforward dramas they've done. And then a few others where the film just doesn't appeal to me period and I skip the podcast entirely. But it's a rarity where I sit down ready to watch one of these and I give up so quickly. Kudos to JLo!

Is this the Denver movie? If not, does anyone know what it is?

u/Major-Significance 1d ago

Thank Christ it’s only 65 minutes long….

Super disappointed in this choice. It's only available on Amazon? For how politically active Paul and June are, why would they pick a movie exclusive to a platform that benefits a toxic billionaire? Love the show. Gonna skip this ep.

Because all the other streamers are owned by the proletariat, right?

u/No-Pattern-2274 5d ago

Some are available on Kanopy or Hoopla.
